Why is Morris a jackwagon?

Because no coach should ever say he doesn't trust his QB. It is insulting to the player and quite frankly it reflects poorly on the coaching staff if a player the caliber of Watson can't take a snap from under center. He also implied Watson wasn't much of leader because he is not vocal. I saw a kid who had perfect command of his team and was trusted by his players. How is that not leadership? Morris should be embarrassed that he threw Watson under the bus and it's unbelievable that some so called Clemson fans are defending him for "being honest".

Watson said he isn't comfortable taking snaps under center because he never did it in high school.
Chad Morris said pretty much the same thing.
If Watson doesn't trust himself, and is willing to admit as much, what's your problem?

Make the kid comfortable with taking snaps under center. He's the best freshman QB in the nation. It's a #### poor excuse from Morris but that is all we get from him anyway in every big game so it shouldn't come as a surprise. He is the highest paid OC in the nation. Work on Watson getting comfortable with it so it doesn't come back to bite you in the butt.

Watson was fumbling snaps under center as of last Thursday, so the coaches decided to not put him in a situation to fail. That's their job.

has that this was still a problem as of Thursday. Shouldn't Morris have noticed that much earlier this year and been working to correct it. If it was a problem why not bring Stoudt in for that short yardage and put him under center? This is Morris not accepting responsibility for either not working on Watson enough to get him comfortable under center or failing to realize that Stoudt could be used as a situational QB for those short yardage calls. Coming out and saying he "doesn't trust" Watson and he "lacks leadership" because he isn't vocal enough is something Spurrier would do to a player.

He got paid to work on it, and he still had issues with it, because, get this, he always played in the shot gun. Taking a center snap has to be automatic, and it takes a little while for that to happen.
Did you miss the part where Morris says "the sky is the limit for Watson" and how he is "tremendously talented"? You did, didn't you? Did you also miss the part where Watson came to Clemson because he wanted to play in Chad's system. Without Morris there is probably no Watson, in fact, he's probably playing for Georgia. So, before you get all balled up with anger, you may want to consider that for a moment.

In a perfect world all people perform perfectly. I guess you never have had a "learning curve" in your life. Perhaps you need to go into coaching.

I agree think if the coaches would have made him the starter earlier this may have been something they would have fixed. I'm sure the starter gets most the reps in pratice

He can get all the reps he wants taking snaps. If Morris wanted him to learn to take snaps under center, he would have sent him and the back up center off to the side to take a couple thousand snaps. Morris just did not prioritize getting him under center as important enough to make happen.

We're not the only team that has dealt with such a dilemma. Even Darth Visor admitted they run a shotgun approach because that's what their guy is comfortable in. We've got plenty of chances to work on this, unlike them. DW is just a freshman. Not a senior. The young man has proven he can adapt quickly. Chad will be ok and so will DW. Furthermore so will our program.

Baltimore Tiger, you must have read something that didn't appear in the article I read. Morris said he didn't trust him taking a snap under center. Why do you think that is? Because he hadn't performed well in practice under center, but they are continuing to work with him in that area. What else do you want him to do or say. As to throwing him under the bus, your bus must be different from mine. His comments were truthful and accurate.

"trust it". Why is that hard to understand? If you don't normally do something (takes snaps under center) and it isn't even really part of the offense, why would you go to it in the most critical situations?
Florida and Tebow were nearly automatic on short yardage and they ALWAYS took the snap from the shotgun and ran QB power.
Now...should we have run QB power instead of handing off...perhaps. I think if we stick to that, we will be great in short yardage going forward.
If you don't perform something to where it is nearly automtic, then in a big siutation you are not going to trust it. That's all he said...and it makes perfect sense.

players become more vocal. They become even more of a leader. Watson is still fairly young. If Morris has seen this why would it bother you -- if he wants the best for him?
