If East Carolina had a name other than

Sep 20, 2014, 5:57 PM

a directional name, they would be a no-brainer for the SEC to expand into the state of North Carolina. If they had a different name along the lines of Clemson, Auburn, Baylor, Purdue, Rutgers, Vanderbilt, anything but East Carolina, I believe they would be next on the SEC list. The SEC is chomping at the bit to get into the state and ECU's atmosphere and stadium is much better than UNC and NC State as it is., but they won't take a directional name school. ECU should seriously consider changing it. It has happened before, Central Florida used to be Florida Tech. CFU made the opposite move and took a non-directional name and made it directional, a bad move in my opinion.

University. They have done very well as Central Florida with an on-campus stadium, and a nice program, but I think they would be better off with the name Florida Tech. I guess it's too late now though.

The current Florida Tech was founded in 1958 as Brevard

Engineering College. They changed their name later and since Florida Tech was available, they took it.

sure about it and then your post made me want to find out for sure. I thought I had heard that about Central Florida just in passing one time. But I looked it up today to find out for sure.
