Clemson players were always getting in trouble and in the news. One of my favorite things about Tommy was I felt he righted the ship in terms of helping to clean up the program. It's been a long time since I've worried about a Clemson player embarrassing my alma mater.

Wins and losses are important, but i will take a clean, well run, academicially honest 8-4 team over a bunch of cheats or thugs that are 12-0 anytime.

As for me, I'm in my late 20's and would gladly take a team full of thugs ( not rapists) and a 12-0 team. I would have loved to have been around in 81 but that's not the case.

I was there then, players were slinging weed out of their dorms and west was getting embarrsed by VT and Cuse.

Embarrassing off the field and on it. I think you can win on the field and still have disciplined guys off it. All programs will have some issues, but you want as few as possible. IMO, part of that is dealing with problems directly and consistently.
