If there hadn't been any Pre-Season Polls this year....

Sep 16, 2014, 12:37 AM

....and every team started equal, what would your Top 25 have looked like after Week 1?

......after Week 2?

......after Week 3?

How could you put UGAy ahead of AnM???....and where's UF, they did beat a strong Kentucky team after all.

;)

The committee will release their first poll on Tues, Oct 28

Sep 16, 2014, 8:05 AM

so we did start equal

AP and coaches poll will have absolutely no bearing on that, IMO

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

How can you believe this?

Sep 16, 2014, 8:08 AM

If the playoff committee poll is drastically different from the AP and Coaches poll they will be forced to scrap the committee.

You might see a different four seed in the playoff in favor of a 5 but the top 3 teams from the AP and Coaches will assuredly make the playoff.

I disagree... I don't think this committee wants to be seen

Sep 16, 2014, 8:11 AM

as a. " puppet ".., especially the media's. I think they will consider them, but I anticipate they will not mimic them at all.

There's a chance they could be the same, but I highly doubt it.

Committee wants to make a splash. IMO

So they're going to make a splash

Sep 16, 2014, 8:24 AM

By not including the best teams in college football?

I guess you're right. That would be quite the splash.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

have you even looked at the criteria for the selection?

Sep 16, 2014, 8:32 AM

when was the last time the AP poll was relevent?

when was the last time the coaches poll was relevent?

Look... I'm sure they will look similar, but what I'm saying is something like... the #5-8 in the AP/coaches could feasibly be much higher in the committee poll

Sep 16, 2014, 8:40 AM [ in reply to So they're going to make a splash ]

Would you be saying the same if there wasn't an SEC team in the top 4?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The whole point of the comittee is to choose who THEY

Sep 16, 2014, 8:28 AM [ in reply to How can you believe this? ]

think the 4 most deserving teams are at the end of the season. If those teams are the same as the coaches and/or AP polls that's fine, but they should in no way take those polls into consideration. I'm open to them using them any kind of metrics or advanced statistics that they want to use to help them make their decisions, but they absolutely should not use the opinions of others to form their own opinions.

They will be influenced by the current polls.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

how so?

Sep 16, 2014, 8:58 AM

you think the most revolutiory move in the college football post season to date is going to be influenced by the most archaic system we were trying to get away from in the first place?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

By the final week of the regular season

Sep 16, 2014, 9:20 AM

The polls tend to be pretty accurate.

I'm not sure why you guys think a Florida State, Auburn or Alabama would have been left out last year.

"Smelley, Garcia, and Beecher are going to lead you to 4-8." - york_tiger

who said they would have been left out?

Sep 16, 2014, 9:23 AM

but... under the committee... if a 1 loss SEC team, that did not win the conference is ranked 4th...

and a 1-loss PAC team that won their conference is ranked 6 (by AP/Coaches poll)...

I would almost bet the PAC team gets in the final four

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Maybe so

Sep 16, 2014, 9:29 AM

But like I said the only controversy will come from that fourth spot. The committee will mimic the AP and Coaches polls for the first 3.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Smelley, Garcia, and Beecher are going to lead you to 4-8." - york_tiger

I'm not so sure... for example...

Sep 16, 2014, 9:36 AM

Let's say Alabama wins the SEC with one loss and Oregon wins the Pac with one loss...

ok, they are clearly one and two.

Then you have a one loss Auburn

two loss SEC East Champion

2 loss Big 12 Champion (close losses to highly ranked teams)

2 loss ACC champion (close losses to high ranked teams)

I could see both 2 loss teams getting in over AU in something like that.

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Of course that's what you want to happen

Sep 16, 2014, 9:43 AM

It's impressive how much the SEC has gotten into your head.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Smelley, Garcia, and Beecher are going to lead you to 4-8." - york_tiger

that has nothing to do with the SEC.... i don't care about

Sep 16, 2014, 9:53 AM

any conference... my point is that, in that scenario, I'm sure the SEC would have teams ranked ahead of the 2 loss conference champions...

you can subsitute any conference you want...

don't make this into an "SEC" thing, b/c it's not

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Then why did you include the SEC in

Sep 16, 2014, 11:08 AM

Your example?

There is no reason to deny why you hope the committee won't be fair to the SEC.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgmilitary_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up
