Take another listen to freshman interviews

Sep 2, 2014, 12:44 AM

Especially Scott's. Interesting tone to the way he is responding to questions of playing time in front of Humphries. And yes, I'm digging very deep right now. It's a message board. Get used to it.

Point is, it is obvious to us in the stands after one game (and I'm sure obvious to the players at practices themselves) that while the probability of making a bone-headed play increases with freshmen taking the majority of snaps, their ceiling seems to be much, much higher than current senior "starters". Let's face it, to truly compete with FSU in Tally and still make a run we are going to need to go out on some limbs based on what was seen on Saturday.

Go Tigers. Look for Watson early and often vs. SC State.

My take on Watson and other freshmen.

I think Dabo and staff realize that going on the road to UGA and FSU early in the year is a monumental task for any team, especially with some players serving suspensions for the opener. I think they are committed to the upper classmen for now, based on two things .... (1) They know what they will get with these guys because of their experience, and (2) IF we are to lose, it completely justifies getting the freshmen into the mix after the FSU game. Plus, they don't want "playing freshmen" to be the reason so many of US complain if we lose to UGA and FSU. It's a long season. And, my oh my, how many of us will feel on top of the world if we go 10-2, beat USuC, and go to the Orange Bowl again?

From my unique perspective, being a woman,

I was impressed at how well spoken and composed they were. I imagine they will all shine sooner rather than later.

It will be interesting to watch as the season progresses.

Go Tigers!

Why does you being a woman give you a unique perspective on these interviews?

Having all brothers and working in the sports medicine

Industry, I think women LISTEN better, IMO.

But then again, I'm just a dumb ole girl, what do I know.

Because there are not that many avid sports loving women, that is why.
