big backs - position changing

Sep 1, 2014, 10:41 PM

If odaniel was a great running back in hs,why move him to lb when our stable is full? We have a history of position changes here. I'm not confident had Gurley came here that he wouldn't have been converted to a lb and had the same fate. Does Dorian have any speed? Just thinking to myself and wanted to hear others opinions.

I completely agree with this. He played RB much more in high school than he did LB. He was also a very good RB.

Most colleges recruited him as a LB, and he came here

to be a LB.

I'm still not sure our LB group is great.

Gallman played a good bit of LB and O'daniel played a fair

amount of RB... I still think Gallman could be one of our best RBs.

Where the #### is Kurt Fleming & why didn't he play!?

Sep 1, 2014, 11:26 PM

We have a big ol' fast guy like that & he doesn't see the field while smaller backs are getting man-handled...?
He looked good in the spring game & is at least big enough to be a mess for big opposing defenses, when smaller backs are getting stuffed. So WTH?
I just don't see how our high paid coaches didn't see their game plan from the beginning & counter it, or even try to mimic it some & play these "freshman" talents to see what they have. I mean, at least there's no video & game-planning you can really do for them.

We'll never know at this rate.

Are you telling me...

Sep 1, 2014, 11:45 PM

that we could have an undercover Gurley on our hands and not even know it?

I'm kidding obviously, Gurley is one of a kind.

I watched O'Daniel play on ESPN in HS and he was playing RB to an elite level. His speed is probably the same as a Gallman or so, not a Davidson. Where does he fit in the depth chart at RB though?:

Howard
Brooks
Davidson
Gallman
Fleming
Dye
Choice
Fuller

Re: didn't attempt to call him Gurley smart guy.

I was simply saying fast as fast, & big...runs a 4:40-something.

Gurley is deserving of Heisman talk.
