I was outside the lodge at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Of course, I had my Clemson hat on. An older gentleman approached me and said, "Clemson Tiger, huh?" It was Brian Dawkins' uncle, and he was the landscape manager there.

Why, you might wonder, do I remember the date? Because the next day, I left with Mrs. dsgriff and our three cubs to drive around to the South Rim. We had just crossed the Colorado River, when suddenly everything changed. I will never forget August 1, 2013 a the day my family of five nearly became a family of zero.
