Spurrier vs. Dabo (first 6 seasons at current programs)
Jul 29, 2014, 3:42 PM
|
|
Spurrier Record Rank(AP) 7-5 (5-3) - 8-5 (3-5) - 6-6 (3-5) - 7-6 (4-4) - 7-6 (3-5) - 9-5 (5-3) 22 TOTALS 44-33 (23-25)
Bowl record: 1-4 Best Bowl win: Liberty Best conference finish: Won East (Lost to AU in Champ)
Dabo Record Rank(AP) 4-3 (3-2) - 9-5 (6-2) 24 6-7 (4-4) - 10-4(6-2) 22 11-2(7-1) 11 11-2(7-1) 8 TOTALS 51-23 (33-12)
Bowl record: 3-3 Best Bowl Win: Orange Best Conference finish: Won ACC (Beat VT)
When comparing what they've accomplished in the same relative time span (first 6 years), it's not even close.
We are in good hands, my friends.
Go Tigers!

Yeah , the SEC factor will take away at least 3 wins from the Dabo column ....and that's for each year. So sayeth the followers of thouest Holieth of Conferencialisms .

Lets be honest and compare the 1st 6 years as a college HC

SS 1st 3 were at Duke -
SS at Duke in 3 years was - 20-13-1 SS next 3 at Florida was - 28-8
total 48-21-1 not much different
but if you take SS 1st 6 at Florida
he was 61-13-1 pretty good
so you can look at those numbers many ways,
I don't care what SS has done, I'm care about what Dabo will do.
I think Dabo needs to start this year beat the Coots and that's all that really matters.

Let's be honest?

As if somehow my post, which was verifiable data, is not honest? I clearly pointed out that I was comparing the first 6 years at their current programs. If you want to make your own comparison, go for it. But don't slam me for not going outside of parameters that I clearly defined. Some of y'all sound like you'd rather have the ball coach than Dabo.

I'm sorry you took it that way but I wasn't putting down the numbers.
Maybe I should have phase my title differently.
I was just using the 1st 6 years of HCing.

Clemson has losing records to Vandy and Kentucky and neither had Spurrier as their coach.

Why isnt that relevant, but Clemson fans harp on the overall head to head wins with Carolina, most of which were 54+ years ago? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.

So you TRY to take a stab at our record against spurriers team, and obviously that didn't go well for you because your team fared much worse against his UF team, Heck they are 3-2 against your mighty puppies in the last 5 years.
Then you want to bring up a couple of teams we've played a handful of times, one of which we haven't played since 1960, and the other we've played 3 times since 1985(BTW we're 2-1 against them in that time).

Actually, it was Disraeli who gave that famous quote.

The evidence for final rankings in the first 6 years is listed, and the contrast is evident.
I thought it would be interesting to compare the two coaches during their first 6 seasons on the job at their respective programs. I'm really not sure how it can be interpreted as spin or "deflecting." The facts are listed. Would you rather have Spurrier through 6 years?

impressive and something to be very proud of. However this thread is about the rivalry. Notice the juxtaposition of SCAR and Clemson in your OP. Rivalry.
That's the suckness I am referring to... the rivalry.
When discussing the rivalry, your points matter extremely little when compared to scoreboard.
If you framed the discussion outside of the context of the rivalry, my attitude would be very different.

Thanks for this insight.
Clemson is doing fine and in my house Dabo gets the credit. Surely we all remember some disgusting losses during Dabo's first few years, losses in which Dabo basically gave away the game. Those days are way back behind Clemson now and Dabo is the man!
GO TIGERS!!!
