Jul 9, 2014, 1:10 PM

Don't think I ever went in there, otherwise.

Fernow St. Cafe is still next door. It's in-between Freeman Hall and Riggs Hall.

Let's build a parking garage with a grocery store in it LOL

They need to put garages in the basement of all buildings so they will not put people there.

As young men, my grandfather and great uncle worked

Jul 9, 2014, 1:31 PM

with the construction crew that originally built Freeman. My grandfather, who became a master carpenter of some renown, also worked on several other buildings on campus that were built through the late 40's

Title says they're tearing it down

Jul 9, 2014, 1:45 PM

but the article says it's an expansion, so I'd guess they're just tearing out one wall

they are tearing down the two story part and replacing it with a new 3 story.(basement included). The back part is newer than the front. The front was pieced together and was bad. The second floor was very bad. Very unlevel.

As an ME, I rarely...

Jul 10, 2014, 7:46 AM

went into Freeman but I must say, the IE's had the best looking female engineers. Not that there weren't some attractive ME's but the IE's seemed to attract a disproportionate majority of good looking ones. Admittedly, I was often gazing in the direction of that building.

Before you get all out of sorts, women in engineering was very rare then and still is which makes the subject worthy of note.

Let us not be deceived by phrases about ‘Man taking charge of his own destiny.’ All that can really happen is that some men will take charge of the destiny of others. . . . The more completely we are planned the more powerful they will be. - C.S. Lewis
