Crump/B-Meist, I propose a new Tigernet rule...
Oct 22, 2013, 11:02 AM
|
|
Any poster that has a pulse of less than 60% CANNOT create a new thread for at a minimum of 3 days after a Clemson Football loss.
I would go as far to make it so they can't even post replies, but I think eliminating their ability to create a new thread is a must.

They should have to earn a higher pulse to be able to post threads on any day.

Is that anyone who likes the University of South Carolina? Only people who like USC but are obnoxious about it? What if they are Clemson fans, but also like USC? Still a coot?

Why not just preapprove every post and make sure you agree with their opinion first. Then why don't you check their background to and see if they meet your criteria for being allowed to even have an opinion. So you don't like someone's opinion so you want to censor them.
Why don't we just call this communist tigernet. Com

they believe in. If someone posts something stupid, then tell that person what you think. What purpose would it serve? Just ignore them. Or use the report abuse button. Nobody seems to ever use it.
I think it does more harm than good to start banning people with unpopular views. Thought control is yucky.

Crump and B-miest can decide to ban known troublemakers.
Oct 22, 2013, 11:17 AM

If you set a rule that binds pulse to being able to post, several posters will start trying to manipulate the points of others they don't like much more aggressively than before.

There are already rules being set into motion by B-Meist
Oct 22, 2013, 11:19 AM

that will ban low pulses who continually create low pulse threads...
And it is very difficult to manipulate the points with monitored approvals of screennames, inability to consecutively pulse the same poster, addition of making the voting a form (cannot use a URL), and the requirement of Donor to issue a thumb down.

Then why not put a thread-starting limit on everyone?
Oct 22, 2013, 11:25 AM
|
|
I think that a person should be limited to starting 8 new threads in a 24 hour period, regardless of pulse. Maybe 5 for non-donors.
Why don't more people use the donor board too? It seems like posters could do more to avoid annoying people with the system already set in place. It feels lazy to expect the admins to create some controversial rule just to make it easier to avoid things you don't want to see.
Again, there is a donor board.

slowly coming back? We'll be dead by the time I reach 60....I have like 20k votes against me. I proposed to BMeist that non donor TD's be removed from pulses since they can no longer TD but he didn't listen.
And I'm involved in too many money fantasy leagues to keep up with a pickem I'm pathetically losing in.

What has surprised me the most about TigerNet during my
Oct 22, 2013, 2:51 PM
|
|
paltry two-year membership has been the ease with which people are allowed to post, even those with clear agendas of disparagement of Clemson and our family.
Now, I strongly support the premise of the "open" forum, and I would defend any person's right to express his or her opinions, regardless of the agreement or disagreement of the majority. I've learned in my long life that we become better informed when we are willing to listen and consider all types of opinions, then draw our own conclusions.
However, as a former Editor of "The Tiger," I had to make decisions weekly as to the types of letters that we would publish. Those that I deemed redundant and/or deliberate personal attacks and/or attempts negatively to denigrate Clemson were not published.
Some of the posts, especially following losses, are nothing more than redundant attempts to defame Clemson, and I would have absolutely no problem with deletions nor refusals to publish. Most, fortunately, have merely been loyal Clemson folks expressing frustrations or offering opinions as to underlying problems, and I wholeheartedly welcome them.
Lastly, I applaud TigerNet's moderators, for they are trying their best to honor the spirit of an open forum...an honor generally missing on other fans' sites.
