Should we run some plays for Stoudt in FSU game?

Oct 14, 2013, 5:30 PM

Stoudt has been passing well in games. Wonder how he has been playing in practice.

But seriously, I wonder what it would take for Stoudt to get into the game? I'm guessing an injury to Boyd or 4 or 5 interceptions. I think Clemson should fool FSU by having Stoudt go into the game at certain times.

That said, I hope our coaches watched LOTs of film on how FSU destroyed MD (and spread offense team) and I hope we are prepared for that.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

What would we gain from that? If he comes in he will either run or pass, same as if Boyd is in there. It's not like he is a running threat like Chad Kelly would be if we put him in certain situations. Just don't think it is going to change anything other than the QB on the field. Boyd is also the better runner of the 2 so I don't see any benefit in doing this. Just my 2 cents.

Possbile benefits:

Oct 14, 2013, 5:37 PM

1) Boyd might learn by watching some of the game from the sidelines for a series.

2) Stoudt "might" be a better pure passer. AND I use the word "might" loosely, because I really do not know how he plays in practice.

Boyd has certainly earned the right to be "the man". But I've seen too many games where Boyd needed to settle down.

I agree maybe if Boyd struggles, but that would be the only scenario. I really don't see Stoudt getting in unless Boyd gets hurt though.

You do realize that Boyd and Stoudt have the same playbook***

Only ways he gets in:
Boyd goes down.
Boyd must sit a play after losing his helmet.
Some trick play with Boyd and Stoudt on the field at the same time.

... or we have a comfortable lead late in the game. Yes, I

like that option best ... ;)

You forgot about if we get a big enough lead that others get PT. That's the one I like.

Absolutely!

In the fourth quarter when Clemson is up by 21. Give him the ball.

GO TIGERS!!

Yes! Then we should fool them by putting Matt Porter in for

Oct 14, 2013, 6:05 PM

Sammy and also let Chandler see some snaps at RB

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why was Matt Porter in the game Saturday?

Oct 14, 2013, 6:14 PM

And why did we try to throw him the ball?

This happened when the game was still in question. I'm not even sure if we were winning at the time I heard his name called on the PA system as the intended target. I did not even know his name. I see now that he has caught one pass this year -- a five yard pass in the SC State game.

Now that was shocking. We have plenty of good receivers. I hope Hopper will be available.

What about the trick plays they have planned with McElveen?***

We will when we get a big enough lead.

Tajh Boyd is the leader

Oct 14, 2013, 7:10 PM

Stoudt and Kelly are both good players. That being said we need the general on the field.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The plan

Oct 14, 2013, 7:21 PM

Boyd fakes getting shook up on a hit. Stoudt comes in pretending to cold. FSU thinks run for his first play but we surprise him with play action pass to Sammy or Bryant
