On Nate Craft

Jun 7, 2013, 7:03 PM

I'm sorry to stir the pot, but I can't resist. Why is a wide receiver who is described as "tall and lanky, but with great hands" working out with the tight ends? ESPN lists him as 6'3" at 197 lb with 4.61 40 speed. Do these characteristics not exemplify a typical wide receiver? Yes, Nate Craft's 40 time may fall short of perfect, but ESPN has given four-star rankings to other Class of 2014 wide receivers with similar speeds (#25 player Ermon Lane with a 4.68 and #29 player Malachi Dupre with a 4.58).

Why can't Craft concentrate only on the wide receiver position?

Who is he going to beat out to get on the field at wide receiver? Our class last year and this year (if they all sign) are a daunting class to try and see playing time.

At TE he could see some time as the pass catching TE after a redshirt and a through understanding of our system.

I would also think that Dabo and company just want to see if he is coachable and able to be moved around if need be. Versatility is almost never a bad thing.
