Hiring BV has nothing to do with a lack of talent and depth throughout the defense.

Our best players are young and our most experienced players just haven't panned out. No upperclassman on D has stepped up other than Tig Willard and he is about as good as he can be.

they are average or slightly below. Bad defense is Wake Forest (ie Army 400 yards rushing at WF yesterday).
Florida State simply was more talented and have a deeper bench.
I tried to curb my excitement with our lead in the third quarter knowing their depth had worn us down on defense.

I don't think BV would have recruited many of our current D players. Thus, I don't think his schemes are working well with our current players. They are not disciplined, and I do not think BV is used to dealing with the types of problems our defense exhibits: poor tackling, out of position, bad angles to the play, etc. I'm not sure this year is going to get much better. BV isn't a magician, and he isn't going to be able to fix a broken D, when there is not many alternatives to choose from.
