Re: 2017 Troy might be even better than last year.

I walked away last year with the distinct impression that they were a borderline Top-25-type of team that nobody really saw coming. Almost created the Perfect Storm and got us.
They were just good. They were solid in the trenches; they were able to create some movement with their O-line and (mostly) protect their QB...who could really, really rifle it and he had some decent WR's and they had some big, stout, powerful RB's who could get those big-boy yards and move the chains the hard way. And their defense was flat-out salty. They played that 3-4 which we never seem to match up with well, were stubborn in the gaps up front, and met and tackled at the LOS, and they were playing some well-disguised, very tight zone looks that seemed to keep us from ever getting in any sort of rhythm. It was pretty obvious Vic Koenning - who had never been exactly boys with Dabo - had circled that game for awhile because he had his guys as ready as any coach I've seen. I never particularly liked that zone scheme of Vic's at Clemson but it definitely plays well at the mid-major level because it levels the talent gap a lot.
A lot of people were busy moaning - and I was concerned about where Deshaun Watson's deep-ball had gone - but truthfully I was more impressed with Troy than anything else. They had a heckuva squad last year...and I agree with ya, with that much coming back they'll probably be even better this year.
