Opening Death Valley Upper Deck for the Solar Eclipse

Wouldn't that be pretty awesome? On August21, To watch the solar eclipse from the upper deck of death valley? I think Clemson should consider doing this. Weather permitting of course. Clemson is right in line with the path of totality. Once a lifetime experience for many. It's estimating that only 0.1% of Americans today have seen a total solar eclipse in person (this % will skyrocket drastically after August 21 of course)

I'm with you on that one. I'll be there but would be a lot better to be in the upper deck... or just in DV period. Doesn't have to be an occasion really.

I didn't really "see" it because we couldn't look at it directly.

Early 70's, I was a little guy. Parents took us to Savannah, GA. It was a Saturday afternoon because we were out of school. Got black dark in the middle of the day for just a few minutes. Then it was bright day again. Not like sunrise/sunset because the sun was up high in the sky.

Just a weird, weird thing. But very cool. Obviously something you never forget.

around late 40's to 50's today if you saw it as a young kid. Not buying that figure only 0.1% of Americans have seen a total eclipse.

Everyone would have to sign a waiver promising not to sue Clemson aftter they go blind. You know most people wouldn't show-up with their pinhole and cardboard reflector.

Dang dude you beat me to it lol. I saw one in '83-'84. I was at school in 4th grade & we got out early because of it(???). Anyway one of the teachers aids had a pinhole "projector" and us kids were all amazed. What'd we ever do without ipads & smart phones?
