CJ Spiller and Justin Miller

May 25, 2017, 7:33 PM

were weapons in the return game that could take it to the house at any given moment. A great return man is about the only thing that we haven't had in the Dabo era. I'd love to see someone step up and be a threat as a return man.

CJ Fuller didn't look bad in the Natty on returns

Nowhere near that category though , Justin Miller was best all time***

absolutely, he had no fear running right into the teeth of the coverage team.

Cornell Powell has that kind of ability. I think he'll emerge as a big time return man this year.

They also changed the kickoff rules in 2012. Yes there are still dynamic players but its harder than ever to make a difference in the return game.

Back in 2009...

May 25, 2017, 8:28 PM

I was sitting in Land Shark or Sun Life Stadium listening to Miami fans repeatedly plead for the Canes not to kick the ball to Spiller. Those pleas fell on deaf ears and Spiller burned them several times on that day.

Nobody comes close to Miller IMO. Our return guys should study HIS film.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Miller ran with no fear of contact which made him great

May 25, 2017, 10:39 PM

Which is why I like defensive guys running. They don't go down without significant contact.

Re: CJ Spiller and Justin Miller - both had breakaway speed

May 26, 2017, 11:12 AM

Miller also did it in the NFL on kickoffs

Talking about Tigers I believe .

Remember Justin Miller taking two KO's back against FSU that year in Tally . He was amazing .

Don't forget Moncks Corner's own Andre Ellington , he was consistent and had big play ability on kickoffs.

Another of my favorite returners who is often forgotten is Joe Don Reames. That dude imo was a really, really good returner.

I would say Joe Don. Dude flipped a lot of field position. Maybe I'm forgetting, but I don't remember Ford doing it a whole lot, although he always had the ability.
