Teams can sign-up to 28 per class....

Feb 10, 2016, 5:18 PM

I believe $CU signed twenty five.

Occasionally, some teams will sign more than the maximum of 28 and in those cases, some signees may count back to the previous year while others may gray shirt and count ahead to the following years class.

Ultimately, no matter how a staff plays the numbers game, a team can have no more than 85 scholarship athletes on its roster at any given time.

There is no limit to the number a school may sign, but you can only bring in 25 in a given
year. The limit for scholarship athletes on campus is 85

Another 4 star receiver who failed by going to SCU...

Feb 10, 2016, 5:58 PM

Is there another school that has as many 4 star WR busts as SCU does

Why not medical hardship him and let him get his degree if he is in such bad shape?

Why would you want to put up with Muschamps BS. He is going to give preference to "his guys" all day. Can't wait for the implosion.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm sure that was an option

Feb 10, 2016, 8:38 PM [ in reply to Re: Unfortunately Shaq has blown out his knee 2 or 3 times ]

maybe he wants to see if he still has the athleticism to compete at a lower level?

Wait

Feb 10, 2016, 9:16 PM

Like The Citadel?

You were 3-9 last year. You lost your major receiver that produced 39% of your receiving yards. You lost your #2 receiver (Adams) too. By losing those two, you lose well over half of your receiving yards.

The article states "The Gamecocks have seven scholarship receivers on the roster, with four more signees who will join the team this summer."

The BOOB is trimming!

Re-read the post....

Feb 11, 2016, 9:30 AM

I'm not saying $CU never retains players who can no longer compete as the result of health/injury-related issues, but it sure doesn't happen very frequently, at least not under Spurrier or Lou.

Feb 11, 2016, 1:22 PM

The fact of the matter is, while it may have occasionally happened, it certainly didn't happen very frequently under Holtz or Spurrier.

Prove me wrong.

I can name at least five off the top of my head right now that Dabo kept on scholarship even after it became clear that injuries or other health-related issues would end their playing careers.

Can you name five under Holtz and Spurrier combined?

Tray Rodgers, Gurminder Thind and Devin Washington come to mind off the top of my head.

I'm sure I could find two others if I bothered to look through old rosters.

and Thind?

Thind actually saw playing time in 05, 06, 07 and I believe 08 as well. Wasn't he also drafted bya CFL team.

I'll give you Devin Washington

You're talking about a legacy recruit....

Feb 11, 2016, 2:12 PM

There was NEVER any risk of him losing it under any circumstances. He was a three star prospect. Did he even have any other committable offers from a Division 1 school.

The fact remains you're changing your goalposts.

If you think tray Rodgers is a special circumstance you can replace him with Matt Coffee, Addison Williams, or Curtis Rice. Or D'von Hill and John Paul Gillis.

Wait that's a full 5 more.

From being able to sign 33 players and cut those others that they have promised a football scholarship. These kids should be able to sue these scoundrels for being dishonest based off convenience.
