I see NASCAR is doing their fans right once again....

Jul 5, 2015, 10:47 PM

Well, at least it gave everyone time to take a nap, wake up, and then take another nap......or go on home.

Well put on some rain tires and drive in the rain. Indy car does it all the time.

True. I often thought about that but...

Jul 5, 2015, 10:53 PM

...not sure how they do that going around a 2.5 mile oval. Guys would be pushing it to the edge and cause major pileups every other lap. But still, it is an option I guess.

Well that's part of driving, you drive slower in the rain.

The physics of Indy cars and Stock Cars are drastically different.

Couldn't they have cancelled this hours ago and

got a full race in tomorrow? I don't claim to be a NASCAR expert.

They could have, but the nacho cheese in the concessions would have went bad overnight. Gotta sell that stuff while it's good.

Yep I get it. They just trying to take care of fans...

...that have stayed there (and TV contracts). No real great alternative I guess. If they run on Monday, mostly empty seats and very little TV viewers.

Word is

they were going to race tonight unless the rain wouldn't stop because the teams have to be in Kentucky this Wednesday to test the new rules package ahead of the race next weekend and delaying a day would pose tremendous logistical problems.

Makes sense and honestly the hard

Jul 6, 2015, 12:27 AM

core fans soldiered on and stayed and those really wanting to watch will stay up or DVR it. The casual fan or anyone new to it bailed long ago, though.

For one, never schedule races on Sunday nights.

Dragging this morning

Jul 6, 2015, 9:37 AM

NBC thought they would have a ratings coup, but turned out the opposite. Race should be on the 4th, always. I stayed up to watch and am still on my first cup of coffee. Retirement has its benefits, but I'll bet no one who had to work saw the race.

It gave them a very scary crash to watch

Jul 6, 2015, 10:12 AM

Crazy. #3 wrecked really bad. And, it was the same place where #3 Dale Sr. died. And Jr. won the race last night.

If by same place you mean Daytona then yes if by same place you mean same area of the track then no it was not.

Dale died in 3&4 that crash was at the start finish line near the tri oval.

Never got into Nascar...

Jul 6, 2015, 4:26 PM

Left turn....then left turn....then left turn. It's almost like their going in circles. It's only fun when somebody wrecks...

NASCAR is dying a slow death from self inflicted wounds.

Jul 6, 2015, 5:03 PM

NASCAR moved away from it's core audience in the late 90's - early 2000's, and are paying the price.

I'm a little surprised a rival series hasn't popped up, catering to the alienated southern fan base.
