life/work without e-mail

May 21, 2015, 1:29 PM

so a huge number of campus e-mail addresses are down... couple of the main campus servers went down...

makes for an incredibly slow day in the office.. but more time to play on Tnet :)

never realized how much of my day involves dealing with e-mail...

how is your day?

actually leave the office? if they didn't call you on the office phone, or if something didn't come in the office mail that day for you, then it wasn't getting answered until 8 am the next day.

when you don't respond immediately to e-mails that are sent well after working hours

and i usually check e-mail at home...especially in the morning... but often wait to respond until i'm in the office

we did have someone bring documents over on a memory stick, so we could download.. he couldn't wait for us to get them

nothing like 100+ emails in the in-box to start the day :)

Years ago I was an IT Director and we instructed a large hospital staff of 3300 how to use Outlook email. Nobody had ever used email in that company and we researched numerous email packages prior to selecting Outlook. Can you imagine when tons of people suddenly did a "reply all" to the entire staff??? I think they took down our servers numerous times before we could educate them all. We took that hospital from the Stone Age to the Space Age in ~ 2 years. Life has never been the same since that day. :)

and think, it was likely nurses and doctors... folks with college and graduate degrees

ah, technology... wondrous at times, a nightmare at others
