Shaka Smart. If Smart declines job, next in line are Utah's Krystkowiak and Xavier's Mack

their basketball program.

If Shaka turns down Texas then he is the Jim Grobe of Bball

someone that just wants to be a big fish in a small pond. There isn't anything wrong with that. Everyone has to love their place of employment. But there can't be a more ideal coaching situation than Texas after Barnes.

I do not understand the love for Shaka. He will not be nearly as successful as Barnes was.

Same here. He has done well at VCU, but I am not convinced

Mar 30, 2015, 11:25 PM

that he is a low-risk hire. He has never been the head coach of a big time program. Doing it at VCU is very different from doing it at Texas.

Maybe, but he showed himself an ace recruiter

under Donovan at UF. Texas wants a guy who can lock down Texas, that was really Barnes downfall the last few years. Shaka could do that

Chris Mack would be a good hire for any school. Xavier has a great program and churns out coaches. The 3 coaches before him are Skip Prosser, Thad Motta, and Sean Miller.
