A Little Too Close To Game Time To Have Players Dropping----

Before the first game of the season
we have players suspended, a key
tailback out for the season,
nagging injuries going into what's
already going to be a hard hitting
important game, and now an
experienced back-up offensive
lineman wants to transfer because
he wants to be a starter at some
other program. Doesn't he realize
he would have gotten playing time
and could very well have to be a
starter for any given game that he
needed?

Anyone out there getting a little
nervous yet? I've never liked the
last few days before the first game.
Too many chances to be hit with
bombshells. My goodness!

About injuries and such prior to the start of the season. Some teams get hit worse than others every year. However, you have to have depth to make up for whatever may go wrong.

I only worry when we have tough opponents on the schedule. So yes ... I've worried the last two years and am worried this year. It's tough to measure a team until you seem them in competition. And while I have full faith in this team, I don't think we'll understand the dynamics and how well they'll do until we see them on the field. And when we open against teams like Troy, it's hard to measure also. I worry about the first big games ... always. I can't wait to see how we perform against UGA. This will be the telltale for the rest of the season ... imo.

Anthony was one of the first game suspensions, so we'd have been without his services anyways, regardless what string he's on.
