Intra-Conference Realignment

There are many of us who long for the feel of the "old" ACC. While this idea isnt perfect, with the recent defection of UMD, I wonder what consideration this idea would get if we got a grass roots movement underway. My proposoal would re-align all of the "first" members of the conference into one division and all of the newer members into the other division. Us old-timers could re-live the era of the old ACC while giving room for the New members to create their own rivalries. We would still be one conference with inter-division rivalires just like now, but with some of the old school feel. I propose the following:
ACC "Charter" division
Clemson Duke NC State Wake Forest UNC Virginia Georgia Tech
ACC "Annex" Division Miami Virginia Tech Pittsburgh Syracuse Boston College Louisville Florida State
Notre Dame could continue to do whatever the hell they please.
So, what say you?

We need North/ South divisons, nobody outside of the ACC knows who is in the Coastal and who is in the Atlantic.

when we go to 16 it will be a north and a south division. south being clemson, fsu, miami, ga. tech and the 4 north carolina schools. the north will be the rest with notre dame and the other school that will make 16. that is so easy and logical it will never happen.

I must admit this has merit, but still think a North South aligment would be best suited. South Division Clemson FSU Miami Ga.Tech Wake N.C.State Louisville
North Division UNC Duke Va.Tech Virginia Boston College Pittsburg Syracuse.
Now some might argue that Louisville needs to be in the North, but no way will Duke and UNC vote to be in different divisons so you could swap Louisvile for Wake.(IMO,the Wolfpack would probably rather remain in the division with Clemson and FSU for football).
(Footnote):Notre Dame isn't going to join either division, but on the likelyhood they did you could possibly bring in Navy (or even Rutgers) and putting both of these schools in the North and then move UNC/Duke to the South.

Navy wouldn't be a good fit, the service academies have not been able to compete consistently at a high level. Rutgers is going to the Big 10, it would make more sense to go after Cincinnati for to pair up with Notre Dame for football.

I think the plan is for Notre Dame to join as a full member once their current TV deal with NBC expires...in 2017 I believe

Can't have Ga Tech in the Charter Division. They were a charter member of the SEC, not the ACC.
