If by "playing smarter" it includes snapping the ball way too early on almost every one of our last drive's plays, i am scratching my head.

You dont snap it at 1 or 2 seconds like on xbox

Oct 24, 2010, 11:42 PM [ in reply to Re: Swinney: Branch back to defensive end ]

three reasons why.
1) no room for error. If the QB gets off in his cadence, he cant yell snap it now ######, or just hit the A button...then you end up with a delay of game
2) You dont want the defense to know EXACTLY when the ball will be snapped...you want them guessing a little it is the only advantage Olinemen have
3) Statistically speaking, offensive off sides and illegal motion penalties increase 450% in the last 5 seconds of the play clock as players get anxious

Exactly correct. That last drive was run perfectly...

except for the part where we didn't get a TD. But at that juncture of the game, we didn't need a TD, so I stand by the fact that the last drive was EXACTLY what we needed and executed PERFECTLY.

Not perfectly...

Of course 6 would have been better, but also Brown needs to know to stay in bounds on that sweep. We ran that WR fake about 6 times during that drive and I had a feeling we were setting that up. I believe there was a TO the play before so he should have been told stay in bounds. It doesn't change the result but would eaten another 30 seconds off the clock in a tighter situation. Good game overall!

Too slow for LB. Johnson called for iso's that almost

Oct 25, 2010, 9:02 AM [ in reply to Let's don't fix it if it ain't broke ]

got him burned on passes. He interfered on one and was beat by a RB on at least two others.

How about middle LB? I agree that he shouldn't be chasing backs in the flats, but taking on guards in the middle might be more to his size, speed and skill set. Not as much chasing but more standing your ground.

Way too much to learn to train a MLB now. The MLB has to be the QB of the defense and you can't just pick that up in a weeks worth of practice.

As far as Meeks goes I am really glad to see him stepping up. Hall has played well the last two season and it looks like Meeks is stepping up just in time for McDaniels exit. Perfect transistion for next season.

What is up with Hall?

Hall is fine. Meeks is just playing better than him right now. Competition is a good thing. Makes everyone strive to get better.

Tough break for Daniel Andrews. Best wishes to him. ***
