Taylor Signs Free Agent Contract with Tampa Bay

Rendrick Taylor has signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Bucs. Taylor was invited to a tryout camp last weekend and impressed the organization. Full Story »

Wow, so Taylor gets a contract, but A. Kelly didn't?

Never would have predicted that one.

They both got the same deal

Post-draft, AK was given an undrafted free agent contract until he was later cut unfortunately during camp.

Rendrick Taylor was not offered the undrafted free agent contract immediately after the draft, but was offered a tryout by the Bucs. He impressed them and so they then offered him the undrafted free agent contract after mini-camp. He still has work to do to make the official roster in camp.

good for him

I was not optimistic he would catch on. This gives him some time to further demonstrate he can play at this level. I was afraid with so little play at CU he would get no offers or even of he got a look they might not take a chance. This doesn't put him on the roster but it is a good step to allow him to earn that. Sure hope he does.

Ocasionally seldom used guys do well. I remember William Andrews w Atl years ago. He did ok once he caught on to the team.

What "setbacks" has Rendrick Taylor had? I thought the worst thing that happened to him was that he grew into a monster athlete too large for his recruited position?

His worst setback was timing and genetics. He came in at the same time we got James Davis and CJ Spiller...and his genetics. Had he been the franchise back and not gotten so large the injuries would have been worked around. Good grief we used to scheme around Duane Coleman.

Taylor will be an asset to any NFL team even if he gets bigger and stronger to the point they play him at DT.

You are forgetting that he came in as a WR not a RB and he had many injuries throughout his years at Clemson that likely have nothing to with his weightlifting or size.

No, actually I didn't forget that. That's why I said he outgrew his position. After freshman year we/they said he could be a running back. Except we had Davis and Spiller.
