How come he hardly ever broke away from defenders for the long ball?

Not as fast with the ball in his hands... may be a balance

Does anyone know what this would equate to at 40 yards?

I know,I know..."SUPPOSIVELY" that was posted. And done by some so called coaches.
Listen, folks will tell ya theres UFOs and abominable snow mans, big foot...U don't believe that too do ya?
If I guessed Ford's time,I would say(40)about 4.32-4.35.
But no way 4.1....NOT calling you a lier,Ok.I read that bologna too.

4.3, YOU ARE HIGH!

Jan 12, 2009, 2:44 AM

He may not run a 4.12 or whatever that was, but he runs faster than a 4.3. I think Justin Miller ran a 4.3-4.4 in the NFL combine, Stucky was in that same range. Ford is faster than both of those guys. 4.3 really is an insult to Ford...

Had a friend who ran a 4.3. Beat Troy Williamson in a race.

Jan 12, 2009, 9:14 AM

Troy Williamson played for USuC and played in a the NFL. Williamson ran around a 4.4 I think in the combine. Jacoby is really a freak. Theres a large handful of 4.3 guys but not a whole bunch faster.

Makes you wonder why...

he doesn't have longer runs on the grid iron. While I do think his track speed is great. His football speed is just good.I'm wondering if hes not a step slower than Spiller on the football field.Plus,it seems the pads really detrack from his ability.
For me,Spiller may just have the best FB speed I have ever seen at Clemson.

Also, he appeared faster as a freshman. I remember one game where CJ was returning a punt away from Ford, reversed field and Ford was behind him. CJ got up to full speed, but Ford passed him and threw a block ahead of him down field. Both my son and I were astonished how fast Ford was as he passed CJ. He is easily the faster player we have ever had, but CJ accelerates and hits his top speed faster than anyone.

Watch Ford's kickoff return for a TD his freshman year against Florida Atlantic, and you'll see that he just blows the field away and is gone (even after stumbling) by the 50 yard line--incredible speed.

I think he is actually a fraction slower now than when he was freshman.

Nice to see that Jacoby is not

suffering any ill effects from his injury last year. That was a real nasty injury. He's a great kid who is a little slower than CJ with the ball but he has guts enough for 4 people catching some of the balls CH threw at him across the middle and the unblocked bubble trouble screen.
