I'm usually in agreement with most of what Dan predicts

(minus the Md game) however, saying it's even regarding WF having the ball seems way offbase.
The Tigers have the country's #5 ranked defense.
Regardless of what WF has done to Clemson in the past, those games are just that, in the past.
UMd used to be a tough opponent for us.
Not this year. Our D will dominate.
Clemson 42-13

the BC game means nothing. I absolutely disagree with that assessment. The game would certainly lose some of its luster should Clemson lose to Wake, but a win over BC would certainly elevate Clemson in the Bowl pecking order and be a nice confidence booster headed into the South Carolina game.

I do feel the rest of the season is very much devalued if we lose to Wake. Yes, it would be nice to have a great bowl at the end of the year, but that's something we can have along with a conference crown.
To me, the conference title is what we're reaching for year after year right now, the bowl game is always there. We need to keep reaching higher and not be satisfied (though we can certainly be happy and proud of our team), or we're destined for mediocrity.

if Clemson loses to Wake and then beats BC, we'll go to either the Peach or the Gator worst case scenario.

ATLANTIC DIVISION Boston College 4-1 Clemson 4-2 Wake Forest 4-2 Florida State 3-3 NC State 2-3 Maryland 1-4
We beat Wake, we're 5-2. We beat BC, we're tied for first. We win tie-breaker because we beat BC. Got it?

Here's how, I knew someone would ask
Nov 9, 2007, 10:57 PM
[ in reply to How?*** ] |
|
11/10: Wake over Clemson BC over Maryland
11/17: Clemson over BC NCSU over Wake
11/24: Miami over BC
In this scenario, Clemson, BC, and Wake would all be 5-3 in the ACC. BC beat Wake, Wake beat Clemson, and Clemson beat BC. The next tie breaker would be our record within the division. Under this scenario, Clemson would be 4-1, while Wake and BC would be 3-2 so we would win the division.
FSU could still also finish 5-3 mathematically, so it is mathematically possible for 4 teams to finish 5-3. FSU needs to win out for this. I have not figured out the 4-team tie-breaker, and it is too early to worry about that anyway! I gotta go to bed. Leaving Greenville area to head to Death Valley in 9 hours!

Tend to agree with margin, but not with total points.

I think it will be less. More along the lines of 24-17.

If the Clemson players can't get pumped up for this game then they don't need to be playing football. A win today would setup the biggest game in Death Valley in recent memory, and the atmosphere should be phenomenal. Hope we can beat out Ohio St. for gameday.

The only team that can beat Clemson in Death Valley today is Clemson. Mistake free ball, we win big. 38-17. Wake is not good enough to beat us. We can only defeat ourselves. I don't see it happening. GO TIGERS!!
