Clemson-ULM Available On ESPN Gameplan Outside Southeast

Clemson-ULM Available On ESPN Gameplan Outside Southeast

Game not available live in CSS markets. It will be shown in North Carolina. Full Story »

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Now THAT makes no sense at all!***

Sep 7, 2007, 2:03 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

umm-- yes it does-- CSS owns the rights and it's survival

Sep 7, 2007, 2:14 PM

depends on the replays and selling ads during the replay time slots. They can't show all games live so this way they get a bigger draw for their replays. Pecking order is ABC-ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU/Lincoln/CSS

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So this could prevent ANY Clemson games from being shown

Sep 7, 2007, 2:15 PM

on Gameplan. Correct?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes-- home games not picked up by the other networks or

Sep 7, 2007, 2:17 PM

not released far enough down the chain to be picked up-- IMO we should rethink our CSS contract when it comes up. Many of the people in SC can't get CSS anyway to even see a replay.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think Clemson jumped at a TV contract with the idea that

Sep 7, 2007, 2:21 PM

CSS was going to market itself better. Meanwhile, we are tied in to a two bit channel that nobody can see.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

also before ESPNU- and Gameplan expansion

Sep 7, 2007, 2:50 PM

I need to go back to see if I can find the article when the contract was signed as it may have the term in there.

Sep 7, 2007, 2:16 PM [ in reply to umm-- yes it does-- CSS owns the rights and it's survival ]

I understand your point, but PPV revenues would trump any ad revenues that CSS gets for a 2 hour replay. I'm sure that ESPN gets a cut for distribution, but CSS has to make a healthy pocket.

badge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If there is that pecking order, isn't Gameplan ESPN related?

Sep 7, 2007, 7:26 PM [ in reply to umm-- yes it does-- CSS owns the rights and it's survival ]

Did Gameplan give it up? If Gameplan got it--and they did for the rest of the country, how did CSS trump them?

Gameplan should be required to give its blackout conditions.

We here in middle Georgia don't get half the stuff Atlanta does, so I doubt we get it delayed, either.

I want my money back.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ESPN pased on it. CSS hoped to sell it to the local stations

Sep 8, 2007, 4:39 PM

but CBS had US Open Tennis and Fox has baseball. Why they didn't PPV this game is anybody's guess.

Suck it Southeast. Hard. Tucson, AZ representing a 10 am showtime, which means beer drinking starts at 7 to prepare.

Where did you get you T-Net name from? I just cannot figure

Sep 7, 2007, 2:11 PM

it out... ;)

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I guess I better fly to Tuscon so I can watch the game.***

CU on tv in Texas. Go Tigers!***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Question.

Sep 7, 2007, 2:20 PM

So, I live in York County South Carolina, my local channels are out of Charlotte, NC on Directv. So this begs the question, will I be able to get the game???

Thanks.

Go Tigers!

Your zip determines the black out, not your locals.***

Sep 7, 2007, 2:23 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If you're west of Tirzah, yes. Also people in Leslie get it.***

Living in Clover you should drive the 2 hours to the game***

Sep 7, 2007, 6:36 PM [ in reply to Question. ]

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

With Dish Network

Sep 7, 2007, 2:28 PM

My understanding is that is blacked out if you have the Gameplan package, but it is available if you order that specific game... At least that is what I was told...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wrong, I was told that too

Sep 7, 2007, 2:52 PM

and then tried to set it up to record this afternoon, when you choose it on the guide, tells you not available in your area.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Looks like our ULM opponent can watch it live in LA!

Sep 7, 2007, 2:34 PM

Since when is Louisiana outside Southeast? I know some people think it is a third world country.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think it has to do with cable operators coverage more than

Sep 7, 2007, 2:47 PM

straight geography. They can't black out places where Comcast/Charter isn't.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Since when is NC out of southeast, guess the North part huh?***

Sep 7, 2007, 2:37 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

1st time I've ever been glad I live in NC instead of SC.***

so, how can you watch the game? if, they will show it on css; then when? i don't want to miss it, so if someone could inform me that would be great.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

how to watch then...

Re: Clemson-ULM Available On ESPN Gameplan Outside Southeast

Sep 8, 2007, 4:35 PM

Was not available in NYC! After ordering the GamePlan service at 12:15 and watching a blank screen for over an hour while I was placed on hold, a service rep from Time Warner Cabel finally came on and told me ESPN had blacked out the game GRRRRRR!
