never a straight answer

He was asked about the 2 yard line play in ot, completly danced around the question, the media guy was pretty much asking why they ran a sweep play, he got off on the o line, reminds me of ol George Bush. Never a straight answer.

What do you want him to say?

The line DIDN'T block. Its not his job to tell us every little detail about why a call was made. And gee, maybe they called it because they THOUGHT it would work. If it had worked, we'd all be saying how brilliant he is!

If I remember correctly, the same play worked earlier in the game. Davis ran around the right end into the corner of the enzone for a TD. Maybe that's why the play was called.

Why they ran the play
Sep 10, 2006, 4:47 PM

I wondered about the play too. However, after watching the TB Show. Davis scored untouched earlier in the day on the same play. There was excellent blocking on the TD.
They used Spiller to carry the ball thinking he might be a little fresh and quicker that late in the game. The blocking was just not there.
Spence went with what had been working.

He thought it would work. What a terrible call. Not only did we show that we were a bunch of pu$$y's by not lining up and running down their throat but we try to "fake 'em out" by running asweep. The call sucked whether we made it or not. If we make it it was by luck. Everybody in the rom knew we were running the samew #### plat. What a horrible loss but then again TB and his staff have made it a common occurence.

You want to trade a couple of horrible losses for some amazing wins. TB has made that a common occurance too - dumb !## - try crushing USuC 63-17, beating FSU twice in a row in Death Valley, beating Miami at Miami. It sone thing to question the call, and I do too. But saying its common that we lose due to coaching is plain stupid. The tigers have been improving every year since TB arrived and are far better than when he got here. If you don't agree, say why.

I agree with you we have had some great wins, but I agree with him on the fact that it was a terrible call..

Geez, I thought everyone was being crazy when they said God had it in for us, but we have now lost 3 of our best and most crucial defensive players, and we lost yesterday because an XP got blocked. Some higher power is not happy with Clemson University for some reason, and I am scared!

You said it right. The first loss and the comments are that we have terrible coaching.... That is very ungrateful and negative. One or two things happen different and we win. What would you negative people have to say then...ooh what a great win. To hear such negativity is terrible Go Tigers..

When they go undefeated we can be "grateful". When we spend tens of millions for new facilities, and millions every game day - it is the athletic dept, the coaches and the players who should be grateful. And they should show it by playing every play as if the game was riding on it. We deserve no less. We contribute the money that gives the coaches and players the opportunity to compete. Let's face it - there aren't that many touches in a game - mistakes were made, we lost the game -no one else to blame. We certainly didn't get beat.

I like Bowden, but for some reason his teams have trouble "closing the deal" in big games. The Tigers have improved over the years, but still have trouble getting consistent wins over quality teams. BC took total advantage of the middle of the field given the injuries.
