Summer breakdown: Joseph ready to lead linebackers

The Tigers have cycled through a lot of talent at linebacker the past few seasons as Stephone Anthony, Tony Steward and B.J. Goodson quickly come to mind. Full Story »

Slightly undersized but unstoppable and efficient in tackling abilities ...

Great comparison, and McDaniel was a beast. That group (McDaniel, Kirkland, Johnson, Simmons and Brewster) was terrific.

My opinion, our talent and depth at all LB positions has never been better. Even experience is comparable. With our dline, our front 7 is as good or better than any FBS team. Go Tigers.

I think LB's will be better than last year as a unit. Ben will be missed for sure but I don't think we miss a beat. CW will definitely be there as a leader for the defense. Someone will also step up in this position group as well.:)

This LB is going to be elite this year. Joseph was a force last year and think he will continue to get better. Tre Lemar is going to have in my opinion similar season to what Joseph had last year. Plus with our dline I feel the LBs are going to have field days on QBs with our heavy blitzing. Think about it you can't double team anyone with Ferrell Wilkins Lawerence and Bryant on the dline bc the others will make you pay and that's going to leave holes for the LBs to make big plays. I'm so ready to see this defense I get goose bumps thinking about our front seven, football season is so close but so far away haha can't wait!!! Go Tigers!!!!!

I have to agree. It's ugly how rich we are at LB. These are some hungry men who need feeding all the time. I think Tre Lamar is going to really surprise a lot of people. He's a physical monster and he'll dominate the inside.

Look for Shaq Smith to make his presence known. It was good he red-shirted for the seasoning and I'm sure he's itching to hit someone. He looked a lot like Reuben Foster in high school and now he's bigger. He was a 5 star for a reason, and it's going to show this year.

Lamar and Smith will follow Joseph and O'Daniel in smoking people.

Wondering if a realistic goal for each game will be a shutout.
