I listened to the news conference on tnet. His so called changes don't seem enough to make real differences next year. Brownell is caught between the huge successes of football and baseball, basketball being the weak link.

"If" that was the problem with the team, then why hasn't Brad corrected this until right before losing his job. Is this just a pile of BS with using Winiecki as an excuse to keep Brad another few years bc they are ok with the situation with the basketball program. This just sounds like someone getting thrown under the bus to me....

Winiecki was in charge of recruiting. It's a logical move.

Though it's possible you'd never see the fruits of anyone's labor for 2-3 years and I'm not sure Brad will make it that long.

It was also a logical move to have a "scapegoat". I guess Mike was that "scapegoat".

basketball does not have a coach designated as "recruiting coord". but steve smith is considered the 'lead recruiter". Big mike had the title of associate head coach.

No name coach gets a life boat off the Titanic. Good move? Maybe. But will it help the program? Does anyone care?

If this assistant coach was such a problem, why wait till now to fire him? Drad will never say this publicly but he probably told Brownell an assistant coach had to be fired to show immediate changes. He was the scapegoat.

see some reason behind the change. It is going to take more than just stronger post play to get better, but it is a step in the right direction.
