New Story: Tony Elliott after scrimmage: "We've got work to do"

Tony Elliott after scrimmage: "We've got work to do"

Clemson's offense is making strides this spring, but there is still a lot of work to do. With a new quarterback, center, starting running back and starting wide receivers, the first true scrimmage of spring practice was a mixed bag for the offense. Full Story »

How many years have you been in 'concussion protocol'? ;)

No DW means the OCs will earn their money this season.
I sure hope we have a run game this year.

Whoever wins the QB job is going to be judged against DW

as the standard. Tough act to follow.

That's not fair. Watson was a special player who will be on the Ring of Honor one day. This upcoming season these offensive coordinators will have their play calling and coaching skills tested . I have every confidence that they will get the job done. We have quality quarterbacks at Clemson. Start the best man against Kent State.

Surprisingly, it seems Hunter is closest to being dual

Sounds like copper or Johnson will start. I maybe wrong. But the will have a lot of practices to get the speed of the game down. And I see Lamar Jackson when watching copper's film. What say ye?

Just a suggestion

Mar 18, 2017, 12:34 PM

Alright Tiger Faithful, before I share my suggestions, I want you all to know that I'm fully aware that I'm not a coach. This is just for entertainment purposes.

Here's what I think should happen. The offense is a quality 3 deep at every position with talent. They just lack some experience at this level. If we could have 3 offensive units to rotate every other drive it would be great. We could develop a different playbook for each individual unit that plays together. The playbook for each unit should be developed based on the strengths of that particular unit. If we were able to accomplish the installation of such, then it would give defensive coordinators across the land a giant headache. They wouldn't really know how to prepare for us each week because they wouldn't know what is coming. Film study would not provide enough material due to the lack of exposure from each unit. First, second, and third offensive team would rotate every drive in that order.

On defense you just need 2 solid units that can rotate each drive. All they have to do is stick to their assignments and be violent.

Think that would be a great idea or what?

Sounds like hockey with 3 lines and rotate them every minute or two...

You may be right. Sort of like the '81 team- great defense with decent offense. It's pretty much worked for Saban for years.

We can end up back in the championship game if we start the right qb. I know it sux that kelly has ridden the pine for two years and ZC put his time in etc but just get the feeling that Hunter is " the guy " to take DW4 place.

I feel if he started and even if we lost a close one to auburn... that we could get him enough experience to win the rest of the games imho.

Based on TE coach speak, sounds like KB play is

Mar 19, 2017, 9:56 PM

behind Hunter and Zerrick. Long way to go. Wonder if BV has to tell Defense #1 to let up some plays to build Offense's confidence?

Practicing against the best D should not be an excuse but more like an advantage.
