The film study continues....

Jan 1, 2017, 10:48 PM

and the wider my smile gets. I know if I'm seeing it on film I now the coaches have. Two quick notes for now:

1) Bama's offensive line is not as good this year

-they are 108th in tackles for loss allowed (7.21 per game vs us @ 26th 4.9/game) (http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/696/p3)

-tied for 40th in sacks allowed (1.71 /game, we are 1.14/game @ 14th) (http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/468)

Go watch how the Washington defense was able to get pressure on passing downs. When Bama went back to running the ball they were able to pull away.

2) The edges

-you'll likely hear from Bama fans this week about us leaving points on the field against OSU, but what they won't mention is their own ability to put Washington away earlier as well. UW (outside of the first drive of the game) either only once or never crossed the 50 again. Even with that, Washington played hard and were able to move the ball (at times) by attacking the edges. Washington's group of receivers were able to make some plays against the outside LBs and corners. Edges also pertains to attacking the DEs in the running game. On the occasion they were balanced, UW was able to run it right at the DEs.

10 of Bama's 24 points came off of turnovers. That means that even with the amazing starting field position on most of their drives, they scored ONE TD with UW helping them in some way.

Tune out the media this week, but do NOT be surprised if not only we find a way to win, it being 10 or more points. Very early, but this team is far from invincible.

Nice post. I hope that at least some of the points left on the field was due to them having been off for a month, and that they are a little sharper next Monday. After the horrible coverage by the national sports media last season, I decided to tune out this season.

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.

This is just the tip of the iceberg too. This doesn't even include the 24 times they've fumbled the ball on the season, the 9 picks thrown, or the sacks given up on the year either. It gets better.
