New Story: Last Call: Wolfpack turn out the lights on Tigers and Littlejohn

Last Call: Wolfpack turn out the lights on Tigers and Littlejohn

The N.C. State Wolfpack closed the curtain on Littlejohn Coliseum and Clemson’s slim NIT hopes with a dominating second half performance Tuesday night, taking advantage of yet another huge Clemson scoring drought in starring in the arena’s last call. Maybe it will be lights out for brownell as well. More games than not his teams go some lengthy amount of time without scoring a FG. I like the way they play defense but someone has to be able to score. But we don't have any scorers at all on this team. Time to start over.

Serious question;Has anyone ever seen a team that has more scoring droughts than Clemson?
And I just don't mean scoring droughts, but droughts lasting double digit minutes.
14 minutes is absolutely uncalled for.
Leave the Devils, the Tarheels, even the Cardinals( Louisville) out of the equation, how much longer can Clemson afford this type of program?

that was a real kick in the pants.***

I know defense wins games but without help from an offense, we will always be in trouble. I say we definitely need some shooters on this team, until then we will continue to struggle.

but he's a great X and O guy

OP left a mess...
It's a young team...
He needs time...
The new (old) facility will change everything ...
We have a great player coming in next year,,,

ONE (1) decent player coming in... how many will leave this mess?

We need a coach that can teach both ends of the floor. Let Brownell go be someone's defensive assistant and get a real Head Coach.

Very bad day for our baseball and basketball teams.

Fork in the road: either brownell gets impact players or we get a new coach who can recruit and game plan. 14 minutes without a basket. Good Lord.

More importantly, how did the students behave?***

They went home quietly with shame.

They played well enough to win throughout the game

In almost every way, except the oh so common (now) shooting drought. Hth!?

It's the reason we've lost every game pretty much & that's it in a nutshell....
ya can't win games against decent or better teams by having 5,10,15 minute scoring droughts.
what else bothers me: as soon as we get down 4 or 5 points in any given game, we stop trying to drive to the hoop for a higher percentage shot & possibly foul/&1 freethrow, we start backing up & shooting hail Mary three's & outside shots but in a sort of panicked mode....not good looks, no rebound or even guys down under to attempt rebounding.
even worse, we can't make shots count under the basket & in the paint!!!???

Shooting alone has killed us & these droughts cannot continue if we want to win.
we need shooters & ball-handlers....the guys can play pretty good defense (at least til they get behind & down on themselves, or hit a drought & lose mojo).
It leaves me scratching my head over the inconsistencies....sometimes we play & look great, head in the game, clicking on all cylinders. But its hard to get all the guys doing it together & we so often look lost or shocked by the other team or officials calls & get obviously rattled.
they give some good effort though, & if we could get just 1 or 2 really good shooting players, things would change.
I hope this happens!

I got my commemorative coin last night too, neat, but was wishing a more from that too...decent crowd though, cool after-game show, caught a free t-shirt...all in all pretty fun but frustrating & wish the outcome had been different.

Go Tigers! Keep giving it all y'all got!!!
I'm behind you guys win or lose
(just please win these close home games more & shoot better ;) )

Another frustrating season....I don't think K.J. could have held this team together...
