Great word...learned it in, I think, my Eng 205 (Vocabulary Building Class) with Dr Rudowski at CU in 1970 (many moons ago). Use it when you're in a bar late at night and tell the bartender/server "I think this may be my penultimate beer for the night, so make it a good one". If it doesn't impress the tender, it may impress your buddies.
