Deshaun Watson update - what we know

Ok guys, just wanted to let you know what we've heard as far as Deshaun. You may have seen or heard that he tweaked or re-injured his knee last night at practice. Before anybody conjures up images of him being carried off on a stretcher on thinking he blew out his ACL or having other people "confirm" things, here is what I know..and I got it from people that were there.
From everything I've heard, he has been feeling good and they were going to turn him loose a little bit to do some cutting and lateral movements. Apparently, it was still a little sore and they had to cut that part of the workout short. But I've talked to three different people who were there and they all say that he was smiling and laughing as he left the field and there was no limp and he didn't appear to be in any pain. Soreness is to be expected.
Does that mean he will or won't play against South Carolina? Still way too early in this process to tell.. and I don't think what happened last night means a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. Maybe if this was NEXT Thursday you would get concerned. But this is all just part of the process. Hope that helps ease some minds.

The truth is that we prepare to play against Watson. Your offense is sufficiently inept with Stoudt at the controls that no special preparation is needed.

Guys this is a very good sign. If he is up an practicing a little discomfort is expected. Any cuts on a knee with fluid in it will bring on discomfort. The good news is he is able to practice which means the initial pain and swelling is mostly gone. If he keeps strengthening it and limits the swelling he should be able to play with a brace. The biggest part of a sprain like this is dealing with the pain and swelling. Come game time every player has a little higher threshold to deal with this type of discomfort.

If you take a direct hit on a completely HEALTHY knee it isn't going to be good lol that's a stupid statement. He's more at risk re-injuring it cutting or planting his foot untouched than he is getting hit. It was a non-contact injury to begin with.

It will most likely shift the knee and put a little stress on the ligament. Unless it is an extreme hit (which is difficult in a brace) it will not cause worse damage because the ligament is already stretched.

Coaches know that, he know that, and the training staff knows that he will play vs USC!... And when we beat that team in the mid-lands just go head and mark DW down as a freaking legend!! Comes back from a LCL sprain and whoops the heell outta that team in the mid-lands!

I'm glad to see that his injury is not as bad as first projected. That poor kid has had more than his fair share of bad luck injury wise since he arrived. Hopefully he will be ok to play us. Personally I want your best shot, win or lose no excuses. I love the game of football and the big hits that go with it but I never want to see a player go down with a season ending injury (but of course knocked out of the game is just fine).
Watson has an extremely bright future, I hope he can stay healthy and make the most of it.

I'm sure he's fine and did no further damage. I just think it was alil bit to early to test it, I would have waited til Monday for the first test of cutting and planting. He wasn't going to play this weekend anyways, hopefully he'll get thru a full day of drills next week and have everything go normal. After 5 days that was def trying to jump the gun testing the knee.

Its all part of the process. Rehab is about pushing your self to the limits.
The fact they're already pushing him this hard in one week is excellent. DW must be feeling pretty good.

If DW is able to play, lets just take the QB runs out of the playbook for one game and let him stand in the pocket see what he can do from there. He's by far the best passer we have on this team, don't make him run the ball and injure his knee again bc we need him for our bowl game also
