How embarrassing is it for the SEC that Mizzou is..

in the drivers seat to make the SEC championship game two out of the last three years. Lets put this in perspective for the SEC:
Mizzou's last, legitimate, conference championship was in 1945. That's right, 1945!
They had only won 2, yes 2, division titles in the Big 12 since its inception in 1996.
And you want to sell me this conference, who is set to host Mizzou for the 2nd straight year, as the benchmark for college football?!
I don't think so ESPN!

The SEC West has too many good teams and the SEC east has too few.
I actually think the idea the two best teams in the conference, regardless of divisions, should always play for the conference championship is a good one.

Indiana should get the SEC east title. They own Mizzou this year , right ? A football afterthought like the Hoosiers...essentially a Division 3 team and who I believe is currently dead last in the B10 , is better than the probable SEC east football champions. The struggle for respectability is real.

This has to be one of the dumbest statements I've seen on the Net....but a perfect example of why Mizzou will not win the East.

in what way is that post a perfect example of why Mizzou won't win the East? I don't follow the logic...I mean, THEY control their destiny. I'll be it only by a 1/2 game, but they do only have 1 conference loss to your 2.

They lost to......wait for it.....Indiana. UGA beat em in their own house 42-0 w/o Gurley. Seriously Mizzou is a 6.5 dog versus TEX A&M this weekend.

You are talking about the division leader whose 2nd best team blew Clemson off the field in the 4th qrt and whose 3rd best team is on a historic 5 game winning streak against Clemson.
I know the sec hype gets frustrating, but Let's just enjoy football and let the chips fall.
3 games. . The season goes by so fast.

In the drivers seat with 3 SEC games remaining on their schedule. I think it's unlikely that MIzzou will win @ TEX A&M or @ TENN. Their final home game is versus Arkansas. They might lose all three.

No one's sitting around waiting on anyone. UGA has but one SEC game left. Mizzou has three......pretty dumb scheduling i might add. What's more funny is that CU's been out of the conference picture for months......and we're talking the ACC here! Par for the course amirite? How can Clemson underachieve so consistently playing in one of the nation's weakest conferences?

Since 2002 (CMR era) UGA has won 2 SEC Championships and 6 SEC East titles. The 80's and 90's were a wash. Not great but i doubt Cu can trump that......but the floor is yours.

we had our chances.......hated it but can only imagine what 5 in a row must feel like. our season was not over dispite the loss. do you understand how the standings work? I know it's killing yall but UGA is still playing for a conference title. Tech's going for the finger.

If you win out in the ACC, you are going to get a shot at the natty. It's doable, and that's all we need. Once the 8-team playoff happens, it'll be even easier to get in.
The SEC is having a nice little run, but it's cyclical. You'll remember that they weren't anything special in the 80's and 90's. One could argue that the SEC is pretty weak this year.
This could be the second straight year that the SEC hasn't won a title. Since we're talking about streaks.

It might have something to do with having arguably the best team in college football share a division with you. The front runner in your division is "Also receiving votes."

I don't recall FSU dominating anyone sands the last year or two.... The SEC had 7 straight nattys and FSU was rarely in the picture so that's a weak excuse.

Their game vs Auburn got out of control quickly in the second half. That's just how they roll. Play close in the first half, blow people out in the second.
They're not nearly as good this year, but it'd take a blind man not to notice how good they were last year.

You SEC homers are hilarious. Talking all big about A&M and Missouri coming in and having a hard time. How'd that work out. FSU will always be a much better program than either of those. They'd come in and be competitive immediately.
I'm not sure how that translates to 2-3 losses. Who would have slowed them down last year? I think you are misunderstanding how good that offense was. Elite, experience OL, a good stable of backs, one of the best WR corps that year, top flight TEs. It was an embarrassment of riches, as much as I hate it. This year has been a real step back, but they're still just as dangerous as Alabama, Auburn (who both look deeply flawed this year), and etc.
The defense was outstanding, too. They performed just as good as your two two defenses against them head-to-head (Alabama gave up 34, LSU gave up 35).

You have to remember though that a few years back the SEC East was pretty good .... Tennessee, Florida, Georgia and the SEC West was down ... Auburn, Alabama, LSU. I'm talking mid to late 90's into the early 2000's. UGA sucked until Richt arrived. A conference can't realign every 10 years just because of the up and down of teams.
