New Story: Will Roderick Byers make an impact on offense?

Will Roderick Byers make an impact on offense?

When Roderick Byers made the decision in early February of 2011 to de-commit from Oregon and sign with Clemson he made it clear that he wanted to make an immediate impact with the Tigers on the defensive line. That impact has been slow to develop, and it just might happen on the offensive side of the ball.

Congrats to Rodrick. What a great attitude, and apparently he's doing a pretty good job on the field and at practice for them even to look at his potential to help us. Great job by Rodrick and by Dabo and staff to find a way to make something happen.

Refreshing attitude after several departures when people got in a snit over lack of pt.

It is not the easiest transition to make, either.

Agree with every post on here, this is the kinda kid that

Belongs at Clemson, works hard and doesn't quit and call his momma as coach would say. He stuck with it to find a place to help the team and I respect that a ton.

Good luck man. Keep working. A D-lineman might be what we need to be nasty up front and help the run game!

This should be how we develop Olineman

Oct 21, 2014, 8:56 AM

frankly the on field mentality between our Dlines now and in the past, versus the Olines are like night and day. The Dlines are nasty, the Olines are wimpy and soft (with one or two exceptions)...so train the guys for a year or two on the Dline, and move them over like we did with Shatley! Couldn't hurt and you would hope the 1-2 years spent on the Dline practice would negate the obviously poor coaching they receive when they become Olineman!

Why not just have an OL coach who can train them right from the get-go?
