Of the top two candidates one turned them down and the other had legal issues that surfaced.

Not worried..

Coach Brownell has eye for coaching talent. He will find someone good to replace Grant. I'd go after former VT James Johnson who had job for about two weeks before he took the VT HC job.

Agree about Johnson, he's probably the first phone call***

argh

null

Very happy for him. Excellent first head coaching job

Brownell continues to develop head coaches, which should be one of his goals. Player and staff development. Would not surprise me to see Brownell reach out to James Johnson again as he is still out of a job after being fired at VaTech

Don't be surprised to see James Johnson's name mentioned

as a replacement. Out of work since VaTech canned him and he and Brownell obviously have a good relationship. He's also an ace recruiter

would he still get his VT contract if he took an asst job? I think usually the prior school gets off the hook if you take another HC job. Just not sure if you go the assistant route

usually the previous school (VT in this case) is responsible for the diff in what they owed him and what the new school is paying him. if his contract was for $1 mil and the asst job paid him $300K.. Vt owes him $700K

Congrats Coach Grant C o C is getting a great coach.
