I like having Clemson guys back as coaches, but I'm surprised Dabo would have Leroy Hill and Merling back considering their run-ins with the law. Hill has had several drug arrests and a domestic violence arrest, and Merling battered a pregnant woman. I know that sometimes you gotta give people a second chance, but I'm just surprised that he would bring guys with questionable character into the family atmosphere that he has created here.

yeah I was also surprised. I'm disappointed in their past antics. I clearly hope it has been put behind them.

You can bet they will be held to strict accountability and taking initiative in continuing to work on the issues that led to their behaviors.
If they do, this could be a chance to redeem them from their past mistakes and change the course of their lives.

I wish them well.

My thought is that if Dabo has made sure these guys aren't a risk then the very same experiences that make them "questionable" could be assets when it comes to advising young men. The accountability factor is also there if they understand that they are there to be role models for the young guys. I agree that the staff has to be very careful in observing them and ensuring that they are behaving themselves but I can't think of a better place for people who need to maybe put some things behind them to come and be around a supportive environment. They are grown men but even grown men need to continue to grow.

That is what families do, they help those with questionable character. Family is family as long as they follow my rules when they are in my house! When i go to their house, I foilow their rules or I do not go.
