So you're saying there's a chance.

I'm just not understanding all this love for the TarHoles***

I'm not sure why you're questioning their alleged awesomeness.

Clearly,

Agree.

Jul 15, 2014, 11:17 AM

Big market in the North Carolina cities. Need to get them interested.

That's the purpose of preseason hype.

Also, UNC athletes can spend 100% of their time on their sport. They don't have to worry about distractions like classes or tests. It's a big advantage for them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

ESPN has 94.9% changce of being WRONG.

We'll see, we'll see.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

To be fair, UNC's game against Clemson

Jul 15, 2014, 11:13 AM

Doesn't have all that much to do with whether or not they will win the ACC. They can easily go to the ACCCG, while losing to Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's because the Coastal Division is so weak.***

% chances of winning a game are pretty arbitrary

Jul 15, 2014, 12:15 PM

I mean, if you think FSU is going to win the ACC, it really doesn't matter what chance you give another team. I guess their reasoning is that since Clemson is in the same division as FSU, they've got less of a chance than a lesser team in the Coastal.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea, I don't think the coastal has a chance to win.

Jul 15, 2014, 12:22 PM

It really boils down to Clemson v. FSU.

Re: Yea, I don't think the coastal has a chance to win.

Jul 15, 2014, 3:42 PM

Fellas,

It all boils down to whoever gets to the title game. Their money is on FL STATE and UNC playing for the title. That's why UNC's % chance of winning the ACC is higher than ours.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I believe their "chances" are based on actual math

Jul 15, 2014, 12:25 PM [ in reply to % chances of winning a game are pretty arbitrary ]

which are based on their "power index". Like, they ran 1,000 simulations, and Clemson won the ACC in 51 of them.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The ACC championship game will be played earlier this year..

Jul 15, 2014, 12:31 PM [ in reply to % chances of winning a game are pretty arbitrary ]

Clemson vs FSU.

FSU's beat writher David Hale doesn't give us much of a chance.

I disagree.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I really don't understand these SoS calculations

Jul 15, 2014, 12:29 PM

UNC's schedule is rated 39th while ours is 51st. Compare the games...

@FSU >>> @ND
@UGA >>> @Miami (90k fans vs 90 fans)
SCAR >>> VT (lol these 3 games aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of difficulty)
Louisville > @Duke
@GT > GT
Cuse < Pitt
NCST = NCST
@BC = @UVA
@Wake (TH night) = @ECU ?? -depends how terrible Wake is

I don't even feel like doing the rest, but where in the heck is their schedule tougher than ours? Is it because San Diego St is less terrible than SC State and Liberty is sucks slightly less than Georgia St or something completely absurd like that?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

2 FCS games are probably a big culprit.***

Jul 15, 2014, 12:31 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yes, and I would also argue...

Jul 15, 2014, 12:41 PM

That VT is a little closer to SCU than TigersandCubs thinks, and also that @Duke might actually be tougher than UofL at home.

Cutcliffe is a great coach that has overachieved with lesser

talent, but Petrino is every bit the equal of Cutcliffe and he's going to inherit a lot more talent at Louisville than Cutcliffe has at Duke. The only edge i would give Duke is that the players are already in the system.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You do know we only pay 1 FCS team right?***

UNC is the new SEC...

Jul 15, 2014, 12:40 PM

Raleigh-Durham, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, and Austin are among the fastest growing cities in the USA. The new money is moving there.

Expect a steady diet of UNC and Texas hype from ESPN.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

These numbers make no sense: if these are "odds to WIN"

Jul 15, 2014, 12:59 PM

the conference, then they are predicting UNC to be better than us...

To WIN the ACC, they have to beat us AND FSU (in the title game).

If these were odds to go to the Champ game then yeah, they'd have a better shot 'cause the Coastal sucks.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why would they have to beat Clemson?

Jul 15, 2014, 1:03 PM

(Assuming FSU wins the Atlantic)

Re: FB Update: ESPN gives Clemson 5.1% to win ACC title

Jul 15, 2014, 1:25 PM

I love it!!! There is not a better way to get a bunch of duds ready to play than telling them they ain't sh!t. But when you tell the talented guys we have that they ain't Sh!t, you challenged their heart, and the kind of steal they are made of. As of right now, their HEARTS and the Armor they are made of has been disrespected by the sports media saying to them that they are no more than a third place mediocre ACC team. If this don't set a fire in their guts, nothing will. I believe it will make their fire hotter. GOOOOOOO TIGERSSSSSS, I believe in you!!!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I live in North Carolina and the UNC fans here would laugh

Jul 16, 2014, 2:11 AM

At the prediction. They know they don't stand a chance against Clemson or FSU. This is absurd by ESPN. It's like they want us to fall but we will not fall. It would be awesome for FSU and Clemson to be in the playoff with a Clemson win.

I guess we could put an ACC spin. Lol

They must think they make all their money in the SEC no matter if the ACC is better. Crazy!!
