Tigers Chalk up first commitment for 2016

The Clemson coaching staff picked up the first commitment for the 2016 recruiting cycle Wednesday afternoon when Argyle (TX) tight end J.C. Chalk gave his verbal. What does he say about his visit? Why did he make the decision? What does his grandfather, Gene Stallings, think about the commitment? Full Story »

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Reading what I have about Stallings, Chalk is good people!***

Learning curve is not real steep to get it right by their junior year.

Do we really need 1 TE every class?!

Re: Do we really need 1 TE every class?!

At least. Some don't work out, some grow into OL and some make great TE's. We do use out TE's more than many programs. Some evolve into H-Back players, too, but any way you slice it, a TE who is gifted is a weapon that causes a lot of mis-matches with the D.

Jordan Leggett is going to explode this year. Linebackers cannot cover him speedwise and dbs cannot cover for his size advantage.

I expect the same, but his work ethic needs to be more consistent, and that is by his own admission. If he gets that down, he will be a huge part of this system, along with M. Williams. Both are potential mismatches.

I have to believe that Stallings had some influence

Jun 11, 2014, 7:12 PM

with this. He knows the kind of man that Dabo is and how could you want anybody else in charge of your grandson for the next 4 years?

I think this guy has the character to stick to his commitment as opposed to the other WR that bailed on us. I still think that Chad Morris hasn't been doing his part in recruiting the Lone Star State since he was such a 'legend' there.

I would be willing to bet that his grandfather ( Gene Stallings ) may have had some input in his decision to commit to Clemson. I would also bet that Coach Stallings is proud to see one of his past players is the Head Coach at Clemson. I can only imagine seeing Coach Sweeney standing on the sideline with Coach Stallings at a home game !
