iphone vs android

May 19, 2014, 10:22 AM

4 years ago you could've made a list of cases for iphone.

Now, the only difference b/w the 2 is taste of the user.

Speed - both are fine now
battery - both are fine now
stability - both are fine

The only difference is taste.
Some people love to customize.
Some people love the look at feel of one or the other.
Some love the simplicity of one or the other.

Besides that, there's really not much difference anymore.

Its pretty much a comfort factor nowadays for the user.

I prefer android for the customization and openness of the platform but thats a personal preference.

The reason I switched

May 19, 2014, 10:29 AM

after 2 Android phones in 4 years was that they get incredibly laggy about 18 months in. I'm talking trying to open a text message and 20 seconds later it finally opens.

My friends with iPhones never had that problem, so I'm giving the 5s a try. If it sux, I'm only out $600.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

i havent had that problem

May 19, 2014, 10:32 AM

since my original phone 4 yrs ago. Even my last phone the Nexus didnt lag but battery life got horrible at end of 2 yrs. My lg g2 wont have either problems. Battery life is 1.5-2 days. Lag isnt an issue anymore on the newer phones.

I have the same..about the same age.

I couldn't stand the lagginess any longer, so I did a factory reset. That definitely helped.

it did help, it wasn't for long. I must have something set wrong, because a ton of apps started downloading before I told it to. I am sure the culprit is hiding there some place. I'd like to upgrade but I am attached to this unlimited data plan. That limits my options.

May 19, 2014, 10:39 AM [ in reply to i havent had that problem ]

it more barebones to keep the speed. The battery life issue is the same for all phones, battery technology still needs to improve, but usually 18 months is whenever they'll start tanking in life.

You keep saying lag isn't an issue. I'm talking literally touch lag, such as swiping to the next screen. There still is a noticeable lag between new Android phones and an iPhone 5 (let alone 5S) when it comes to that. Now is it a problem, not really, it's quick enough.

May 19, 2014, 12:27 PM

2 android phones and 1 android tablet. There is no, zero difference in lag at all. And my wife even has the S4 which has the worst add on software possible on any android by Samsung. My G2 is the fastest longest lasting phone of any phone that out there imo. iphone or android. That is until the G3 comes out in a few weeks.

have had that exact same problem. They had the 4S and less than 2 years in they became so slow they were virtually unusable. Guess who got to shell out the dough for 2 new 5S's?

I've had an Android for a few years with no problem whatsoever.

Double tap home button, you have your multi-tasking.

May 19, 2014, 10:40 AM

I really don't get the fascination with the back button, seems you default to press it because you can't figure out where to go to get back to where you were. You don't get stuck in places like that on iOS, so you don't need to back button out to get to back to where you were.

considering I hate Apple products...

May 19, 2014, 10:44 AM

I wouldn't be able to give you unbiased advice. I happen to use a Nokia Windows phone with 8.1 OS.

I own some Apple products simply by necessity. I hate my iPads, I hate my wife's iPhone, I hate my Mac Mini. I find it quite ironic that the brand that is supposed to be for the "creative" personality is so limited and restrictive.

I had one iPad go down so instead of forking out $600 for another one that MAY have enough memory so I won't have to uninstall all my apps every time they send out an OS upgrade, I bought a Galaxy Tab 4 for $320. I love it so far.

I like the Tab's size, price and functionality better of the ipad. The back button in about a quarter of an inch too close to the center.

Apple.

You want all your apps to perform/act the same way...apple.

After having an Android, I'm sure that people who like to tweak battery life, tweak settings...yeah it's great. I tweaked my/my wife's droid constantly. The fun of that wore off pretty quickly.
