Leggett: This baseball team hasn't given up
Clemson defeated UNLV 5-2 Monday night and has a modest four-game winning streak, and head coach Jack Leggett tells TigerNet that while his team knows they are in a must-win situation every time they take the field, no one in his program has thrown in the towel. Full Story » |

hard work and passion as the players have none of them want to lose. The players also know they still have a lot to play for and baseball is a game of streaks.

That's easy to say when you win the games you should win, but they constantly lose 2 out of 3 or get swept by ranked teams.

UNLV's RPI is 20 points higher than Clemson's.

How have they done since Jerry Tarkanian left them? I didn't even KNOW they had a baseball team until this week. But thanks for the RPI update. I will continue to worry about the tigers though.

lol it is sad that you are trying to use hte fact that our RPI is that much lower than UNLV as a defense point.
You really and truly have no expectations for Clemson Baseball do you?

as i have said before i think there will be changes made after the year is over. that being said, our infield yesterday consisted of no starters from opening day. that was 2 very good wins against very good competition, like it or not. guess it would be out of the question to see how the rest of the year plays out without your constant snide comments. everyone knows you hate jack. but hey, get used to it. he is going nowhere.

That is false I hate poor baseball but there you go again with your very combative stance. It is pretty sad.

The last statement is what is sad, he needs to move on out the door.

and make the NCAA Tournament. There will be no change. My only complaint is lack of aggression at the plate. First inning Monday night against UNLV. First two on. Third baseman from UNLV comes in on grass. He knows what's coming. Sure enough, three bunt attempts. It's early in the game. SWING AWAY!!! Let's get some runs! Playing for one or two runs at a time will get you beat. Let's see some crooked numbers on the board.

getting rid of Peppicelli. Gotta get a guy that can develop the staff. His talent evaluation is suspect as well. Didn't even offer the freshman kid at scar .. who had a previous relationship with Lecroy.

A good starting point would be a former pitcher, not CF.***

The players come out of the duggout to congratulate them. Even the 3 base homer there was no enthusiasm. They have not quit, but I think they have given up on having a good season.

We had 4 hits yesterday at home against a 3-5 pitcher for UNLV. I doubt anyone has given up but they're an average team. RPI is terrible and we're what, 6th best in ACC and have won maybe one series from those 5! Maybe none. So regardless who has given up and who has not, we've become an average ACC baseball program.

Just have to wonder

how long they can sustain it playing what is essentially playoff baseball starting with three weeks left in the season. Can they hold up playing "win and advance" for the extra three weeks compared to everybody else? Where other teams have some wiggle room which would allow them to rest starters and adjust their pitching rotation to get it right for the postseason we really can't do that. We even have to take the ACC tourney serious for once as after tomorrow night that would be our best shot at making huge RPI gains to secure our position for a regional. Lot's of pressure to be put on a team and coaching staff that has a history of melting down when pressured.

have proven over the first 48 games. That is enough of a sample size to not expect too much from here on in.
