I preface this statement that I know very little about...

the NBA or basketball in general. That appears to be a really long list of college basketball players that forfeited their college basketball careers for a shot at the NBA. Isn't there only two rounds, 30 teams, 60 slots?? Yikes! Is KJ a top 30 pic? Aren't the 1st round players the only ones guaranteed a contract?

unlike in football, there are still tons of other leagues around the world for these players to make a decent living. For most players, another year in college isn't going to change where they're drafted by that much. There are a handful of players that get burned, but most of the players have an idea of where they'll fall, and they're okay with it.

Take the case of Terrence Oglesby for us a few years ago. He declared for the NBA Draft after his sophomore season, even though he knew there was no way he'd be drafted. He just wanted to start earning money for playing basketball in Europe, and there were 15 teams vying to sign him right out of college.

Even though the salaries aren't as good as the NBA, there were still 40 players in Europe making the US equivalent of $3 million or more last year, and 6-figure salaries aren't uncommon at all in the better European leagues.

Valid point, haven't thought of it that way before.

There are at least 10, maybe 15 guys who should go above him just out of the early-entrants. Then you also have a good international class. Heck, if there are even just 10 seniors above K.J. he could slip into the second round. I think it was crazy for him to leave.
