Big Mac learns of starting chance through Twitter, wants to take advantage

Offensive lineman Eric Mac Lain was scrolling through Twitter a few weeks ago when he learned he would be given the chance to start at left guard this spring. What does he say about the chance? What other positions did he say he would like to play? Full Story »

He has not played well when given an opportunity in things like scrimmages. Since he's added the weight he hasn't shown the awareness or athleticism to be able to effectively move his feet to pick up speed rushers and/ or stunts. I think because of that, the staff finally came to the realization that he's not a Tackle. Hopefully, he can be more effective as a Guard.

I hope you realize that OL is the hardest position to learn.

You can have all of the tools in the world but if you don't have the technique/footwork you'll get beaten a lot.

You've got a guy that's been taught one thing his entire life and is now having to relearn everything. Not an easy task especially considering the level of competition he's playing against.
