This sure seems shortsiighted...

And last season either FSU loses the rematch and no NC or we lose and go to a horrle bowl. Instead of a bigtime win over OSU in the BCS.

If you want 2 teams in the playoffs matching them up and one losing in the ACCCG also seems to knock one out.

So,....explain to me why this is not dumb?

This is about bringing N. Dame in to the strength

of conference conversation for the ACC.

Notre Dame is always ranked in the preseason polls.

The crew in Greensboro wants to be able to compare FSU, Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, and VA Tech to the crew that they have in the SEC (Bama, LSU, FLA, UGA).

but dame isnt even in the acc..

Agree. If we have 2 strong teams they should play in Sep

Play early to allow the losing team time to climb back up the polls.

All teams in the ACC will play each other AT LEAST every other year.

Each team will play round robin in their division, then two of the teams shown in (parenthesis) on a yearly rotation.

Atlantic odd years - 2015, 2017, 2019 etc.
VA Tech (UNC, NCST, Duke, and Wake)
UVA (UNC, NCST, Duke, and Wake)
Syracuse (UNC, NCST, Duke, and Wake)
Boston (UNC, NCST, Duke, and Wake)
Clemson (FSU, L-Ville, and Pitt)
GT (FSU, L-Ville, and Pitt)
Miami (FSU, L-Ville, and Pitt)

Coastal odd years - 2015, 2017, 2019 etc.
UNC (VA Tech, UVA, Syracuse, Boston)
NCST (VA Tech, UVA, Syracuse, Boston)
Duke (VA Tech, UVA, Syracuse, Boston)
Wake (VA Tech, UVA, Syracuse, Boston)
FSU (Clemson, GT, Miami)
L-Ville (Clemson, GT, Miami)
Pitt (Clemson, GT, Miami)

Clemson will play Georgia Tech and Miami every year.
Clemson will play FSU, L-Ville, and Pitt twice every three years.

this is a stupid idea imo..

Mar 14, 2014, 10:44 PM

the system isnt broke no need to fix it.duke won their division last year and deserved to play in the title game.would have been nice to see us there playing.but we lost our chance when we lost to fsu who did not lose a game last year. this move is over kill perhaps they should just do a division realignment instead.

Bad Idea -- Especially for Clemson

Mar 14, 2014, 10:48 PM

I think the ACC should be hopeful to just get one team in every year and design their system accordingly. The SEC, right or wrong, will likely get two teams in every year. That leaves two spots open and if teams like Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, or USC win their conference championship, they will most likely get the nod over Clemson as the ACC champion because of their name and $$.

For FSU or Clemson to win the ACC, they will now likely have to beat each other twice in the same year with the championship game following the week of their rivalry game. Until the ACC improves considerably, wins some out of conference games to gain credibility for in conference games, deregulation will actually hurt the chance of FSU or Clemson getting into the playoff. This is especially true for CU as national perception generally works against them (i.e. most people thought OSU was a better team this year..they weren't).

If FSU, CU, Miami, and Va Tech all become perennial top 15 teams, then this would be a good idea. Until then, let FSU or CU beat Duke in the ACC CG and roll the dice on getting selected. Low ratings in the ACC CG matter very little to FSU and the ACC right now.
