New Story: Ferocious Front Seven

Ferocious Front Seven

Clemson fans have been longing for a return to the good old days of Clemson football, the days when defensive monsters like Levon Kirkland and Jeff Davis struck fear into opposing defenses. With a talented front seven and a wealth of experience, those days might be close to returning. Full Story »

cheer for in their lifetimes." Sweet hyperbole. One bad defensive season in a program that has been historically led by the defense and apparently, unbeknownst to me, our fan base jumped to the conclusion that we would continue to struggle for the next 50-60 years? Sweet journalism.

Steele's defense was pretty bad in 2009 as well. It lost the ACC CG for Clemson.

I Really Hope They Are Back ----

The thing is a defense that can quickly adapt to the
speed and changes that offenses are doing lately and
shut them down consistently......well then, you have
a coaching staff, you have multiple great schemes
defensively, you have multiple great players, a huge source of pride, and the ability to do efficient
tackling and pass break-ups. Then yes, monsters will be
back and you will have a no doubt a defense.

Well, here's one for you: After Ford was let go someone said

Mar 14, 2014, 2:19 PM [ in reply to "Many despaired that there may never be a feared defense to ]

Clemson would never again go into Doak Campbell and kick ### like they did against FSU in 1989. It is true we have won there since 1989 but far and in-between and in never as dominant a performance.

I am starting to think that statement may fall under Dabo's regime BUT it has stood true and long time AND it is not hyperbole.

Now, Mr. Hood is correct about our fans. Many on here did NOT think Clemson would ever again have a dominant physical D. hyperbole? Not really if you go back and see what was said and is still said about Clemson in regards to being a physical team you will see he is correct.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose it's relative

Mar 14, 2014, 2:46 PM

For a 70 year old fan, the statement is much more applicable. For current Clemson students and recent graduates such as myself, the prospect of having a poor defense for roughly 50 years seems a bit of a stretch.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, in fairness... I bet the class of '91 never

Mar 14, 2014, 3:57 PM

once thought that they wouldn't see another ACC title for 20 years... That turned out well....

NO FARMERS NO FOOD

Ferocious Defense works well with Clemson crowd noise.

Mar 14, 2014, 2:23 PM

I know, I lived the 1980's and it was a deadly combination for Clemson's foes.

The Valley should be fun this year. Let's hope our fans go on a lot of road trips too to take the noise to other stadiums.

GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
