That puts pressure on Watson. I guess he knows this row is long and tough to hoe.

I'm not going to put too much stock in this, but it looks

Mar 5, 2014, 9:36 PM

like it indicates that Watson will avoid a redshirt.

Retiring numbers is stupid. Eventually none will be left.

We've retired 3 in over a hundred years...97 should be

Mar 5, 2014, 10:57 PM

plenty enough to equip a team...

It's only 96, can't use 100. I don't think that'll be enough...

RULE 1. SECTION 4. ARTICLE 2. a. All players shall be numbered 1 through 99. Any number preceded by zero (“0’’) is illegal.

700 years from now we won't have enough.***

Fuller has changed his mind since the Anthony Downs deal. He was not in favor of it back then and Downs never wore the number.

Downs was a running back I think that had something to do with it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It honestly sounds like Fuller desires a little

Mar 6, 2014, 1:01 AM

self promotion. Current players should be able to wear whatever legal # they want, without having to get permission. Retire the # in ceremony only.

Mar 6, 2014, 1:44 AM

Except that at the time it WAS RETIRED. Fuller does not need self promotion among Tiger fans. He earned it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Then why is he going after it?***

I think it is very disrespectful to even ask. Regardless of whether Fuller gave permission, what a brat to even ask. Shame on Swinney for even entertaining this idea must less agreeing to it. Watson should respect Clemson history!

Fuller was the best QB in Clemson history. IMO, he put clemson on the map when he signed. Clemson football had been stuck in mediocrity for many years. Fuller was probably one of the top 20 recruits in the country. I was actually the QB for the 9th grade team at Fuller's high school when he was there at SHS. I was a big fan of his and followed him closely at CU. Great player.

But to choose to s u c k c o c k

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Fuller was the best pure athlete I have seen at QB

Mar 12, 2014, 8:26 AM

at QB with a Paw on his helmet. Different O back then with option but he
was tough and threw on the move better than anyone Ive seen in a Tiger uni. Kelly reminds me of him in body language and on the run. Watson will develop and be a great one I think but Fuller had more to do with Clemsons FB turn around than anyone back then along with the defense, which had the best athletes on the team. He was a hell of a football player and winner who could have played WR and FS easily. He was that type of rare athlete.
