We got to recruit the tigerpit hogs for the trenches
consistently. We all now depth will only help us.
Hope Riggs can BEEF UP and hold it down.

He's a Walk-on, so it's worth a shot

Won't hurt us if this doesn't pan out. If it does, great. He's got the height, just needs to beef up.

I see an athletic long snapper who can get downfield and cover a lane on punt return.

Well he isn't going to see time at TE anytime soon

TE's have experience blocking and are generally athletic. A good frame to build an OT on. Worth a shot for the young man.

He may see more snaps at long snapper that in the offense.

Just from a historical perspective

In the Drew Brees era at Purdue, his left tacker, Matt Light (Tom Brady's longtime left tackle) came to Purdue as a 2* TE.

Nick Hardwick (longtime Charger center) was a walk on who didn't play high school football (he was a state wrestling champ).

Anyway, it doesn't hurt to roll the dice when there are no real consequences for missing.

I'm thinking more of a Special Teams snapper with his

I'm reminded of ole 54goof. If he's that good at long snapping we'll be fine.

Look out for Brad Tatkos (freshman walkon from Greenwood) who won the snapping contest for walkons earlier this year.

well he is only 50 LBS away from where he needs to be

That was last year's roster weight

I had heard back during the season that he would probably end up on the OL so I imagine he's been bulking up. MacLain was listed at 260 on the 2012 roster and at 295 on the 2013 roster so it's not like it would be unprecedented for someone to bulk up in a year.

On thing to think about is this....if he's got the ability to contribute at C that would free up either Norton or Guillermo at G, allowing us to put our best 5 on the field at the same time.

JJ Watt and eric fisher started as walk on TE's***

He wouldn't have seen PT for 2 years, most likely

Quicker for him to do this and address a need.

Dang...wonder what PaPa Riggs is going to say? Whoo!
