Doubt it...14 ACC schools and 14 SEC schools.

Feb 7, 2014, 4:01 PM

Guess it would be SCar every year?

It would be SCar. The reason they are pushing for this is to give Cuse a strong opponent without adding a conference game. I personally think the ACC/SEC could make a killing promoting a challenge weekend at the end of the season.

end of the season would never work with conference title games the next week.

Feb 7, 2014, 4:12 PM

Why 4 teams from each conference already play the last week of the season. The ACC already promoted that week as rivalry week and moved VT vs UVA to the last week.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Exactly, some ACC teams play their rivals that week.

Feb 7, 2014, 7:46 PM

That week is rivalry week, teams with non-SEC rivals would want their SEC games at some other point of the season, probably early in the first few weeks.

It's not a bad idea until you stop to realize that us-sc and 3 other existing games wouldn't move from the last weekend. And neither would Bama-barn or ole miss-msu.

I would like to see the Scar game in the middle of the year like it used to be

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope so but it is only a matter of time before those "big"

boys decide that "their schedule" does not accomodate another OOC game against someone like us.....lol

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's all fine and dandy but what does the SEC say about this?***

The SEC is in agreement as long as they only have to play

Feb 7, 2014, 4:47 PM [ in reply to That's all fine and dandy but what does the SEC say about this?*** ]

Wake, 'Cuse, Pitt, UVA, NC St, Duke (circa any year but '13), and BC and only play home games.

Bama getting Duke or Syracuse? Miami gets MSST. LSU gets Wake Forrest.

Feb 8, 2014, 8:47 AM

Doesn't wake already play Vandy every year?

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Don't know what this means but.......

Feb 7, 2014, 6:01 PM

.....if it means getting rid of the sub-conference cupcakes, I'm all for it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It doesn't

Feb 7, 2014, 10:26 PM

We still want 7 home games. With 9 games against FBS AQ level opponents at best you'll get 5 at home. We'll need the two lower tier cupcakes to make our 7 home game quota.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe this is out of the blue.

Feb 7, 2014, 9:39 PM

But doesn't Vandy and Wake every year also?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Maybe this is out of the blue.

Feb 7, 2014, 10:20 PM

This would increase the SOS of all ACC schools that are determined to make the four team playoff, sounds reasonable. Gives the ACC a chance to make it happen, what is the issue?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That was just a home and home series they had

Feb 7, 2014, 10:28 PM [ in reply to Maybe this is out of the blue. ]

Looks like last season was the last one and they're not playing each other this year.

Look at Vandy's schedule though. It's the epitome of SEC scheduling. A cupcake before every tough game. Well, except the end of the season where they end with two cupcakes in a row. I'm glad that the ACC has finally caught on and set up a favorable schedule for us this year.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If Money and Home games are the big issues...

Feb 8, 2014, 8:02 AM

Did we use to be able to "buy out" some of the smaller schools and have them come to the valley when we were supposed to go there?

Wake, BC, Duke are three that could probably make more money coming to Clemson each year. Could they alternate, one year Wake comes to Clemson instead of playing at Wake; BC comes to FSU instead of playing at BC, etc.

Probably couldn't work on a perm basis, but could some type of schedule be made up with these smaller school play 2 of 3 against the bigger school away?

Feb 8, 2014, 10:42 AM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Do I see it happening...

Feb 8, 2014, 1:46 PM

No. The SEC won't agree to it since it would involve having to play away games w/ ACC schools. Plus, it means one less chance to schedule the FCS teams for guaranteed wins since they play such a 'tough in-conference schedule' according to eSECpn.

For the ACC in general, it would be beneficial...would lock out the four w/ in-state rivalries w/ SEC schools from scheduling any other games with SEC teams (i.e. - no more Clemson-Georgia or Clemson-Auburn).

Think we'll see the 9 game ACC schedule before the '8+1' with the SEC on the schedules

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Perhaps these could be the matchups....

Feb 8, 2014, 3:00 PM

Clemson-Scar
FSU- Florida
GT-UGA
Louisville-Kentucky
Wake-Vandy
Miami-LSU
Va. Tech-Tennessee
Syracuse- Miss. State
BC-Arkansas
UNC-Alabama
UVA-Missouri
N.C. State-Texas A&M
Duke-Ole Miss
Pittsburgh-Auburn

I have no idea which ones of those make sense, but you have to start somewhere. If these matchups do not include the traditional rivalries, then it could be this:
Clemson-UGA
FSU-Bama
Miami-Florida
GT-Auburn
Louisville-Ole Miss
Duke-Vandy
Va. Tech-Tennessee
N.C. State-SCAR
UNC-Kentucky
Pitt-LSU
BC-Miss. State
Syracuse- Texas A&M
Wake-Arkansas
UVA- Missouri

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brilliant

Feb 8, 2014, 9:00 PM

But SEC won't agree is my guess
